Well Chris, as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I see classic lines & the potential to haul a**!? Don't look like she's been all that cannibalized from here? Though I do have a few questions about the transverse mounted engine ...

That walkaround plank on the port side of the trailer is purty killer too. Imo.

Transom is shot.  Stringers are shot.  Floor is GONE.  Seats are GONE.  Engine is there, kind of.  Drive it there, should make a great anchor.  Dash is intact.  Tailer rolls great!  Trailer Lights????  Optional!!!! ... and the keys are in it! Maybe I should bring this one up to the meet next year and see if anyone can make the "transverse" mounted engine start! I washed it thinking it would look better and all that happened is my wash pad is about half the size it was before I  started and there is a lot of flake in my wash pale!  Only difference in appearance is that it's a bit fuzzy from the wash pad!

Hey Chris
You might have to change the name to "Not such a cheap thrill" or something like that!  ;D
As they (we) say, it has potential. Has the wife seen it yet?  :o
Are those bullet holes in the transom or?
Motor is taking up passenger space. Other then that... :D
Just giving you grief! That will be a bad *ss boat with a V8 in it and since you have to replace the transom, you can cut out whatever kind of hole you need.
At least you saved it from any further abuse and neglect. I can see a diamond in the rough there for sure. What was their intent with the motor and outdrive yanked? Transom? What were all those holes for????? Did this have a swim platform? I dont think so if its a 16.

I think Lawson will have a leg up on me.  This one, not as big but needs a complete rebuild.  What it will look like when done I don't know.  Name?  Will certainly be renamed! Will go though the de-naming ritual soon!  With the aid of a power buffer and sander! Still hoping a 260 Mercruiser will fit in there.  If not maybe a 888 Mergruiser (302) using the engine it came with and a mercruiser drive.  Anyone need a OLD OMC DRIVE? got to get this out of the boat so I can see what is left of the engine mounts and stringers!  :-/

That old drive must be worth some bucks. I know I paid 500.00 for a used one (73 vintage) and was told by Twin City Outboard that a rebuilt would be around 1500.00!

If it's an 800, I need the long curved tilt gear. Heck if it's an 800 I would run it.

I know NOTHING about the OMC drives other than they do not have trim.  I will find out what it is.  I need to get it over to my buddy's shop so I can get the engine and drive unloaded.

OMC's have trim. They have hydraulic rams on the motor mounts to trim the entire engine/outdirve assy which is why they have the big rubber boot on the transom. They have tilt too to tilt the outdrive out of the water but can not be ran this way.

Wait a minute. Isn't that a Volvo outdrive?

Long term project here I am afraid.  But, will get it on the lake someday.  Funds as tight as they are, there are still a lot of little things I can start with.  It is on a half-way good trailer and I have a lot of parts to go through.  I want to get the engine on a stand and make sure it does not get any worse off.  Got to get it upright and oiled up.  Eventually want to be able to start it on a stand and keep it fresh.  It should make a great blender or blower for the garage for a while!  Love to crank up a V8 and let it growl now and then!!

Lifted the engine and out drive out of the hull today.  Engine is now sitting on a pallot in the garage and I built a stand to put the outdrive on.  Boat looks better already!
