You're right...it does look better already. Quite the stand you built there. Those buggers are awkward to do much with otherwise, for sure.

Merc V6's have been around for some time now, might find one cheap in an older beat up boat.
Buddy of mine has one in a 2003 Larson 19 foot open bow (Volvo 190 HP V6) and can get over 50 mph gps with a SS prop, and that boat is twice the weight of your CV !

Robbing a bank would be quicker ...

I did a bit of exploratory buffing last night. It will not look like new but it will dress up and look OK.  The half I buffed is beginning to shine a little the other side has the grain raised to the point it feels like 80 grit sand paper!

Hey Chris,  I need that little fellow in my shop for a few weeks,  hmmmm ... hardwood ply transom, sandwiched and overlayed with Kevlar mat, ply bonded stringers, hardwood ply floor, injected foam,   2000 model 5.7 Vortec (sittin in my garage )  bored .060, flat pistons, aluminum exhaust manifolds, polished 600cfm Edlebrock Performer carb & aluminum intake, custom camshaft, Alpha One Mercruiser drive, 1.47 ratio, raised 2 1/2 inches, and I'd loan you my prop if you will include me in your insurance policy ... I'd speculate a speed in the high 70's[/b

You want a project  ::) Come and get it! I wish I had the time and resources to get it put together right away.  The other California CV-16ssV8 is in the area here and I will get to go look it over.  Sure would be great to have a pair of them on the lake side by side!

Actually ... that took only an hour.  3 step process.  Dry sand with an orbital sander with 80 grid then 120.  Buff with 3M heavy cutting compound. then finish buff with 3M finessit.  Will need a few more buffing with the finessit but shines up and waxes up real well.
