Author Topic: Prop Testing Day II - White Bear Lake Wednesday 7/6/2011 (Read 19217 times)

Ross and I are thinking of boating on White Bear Lake Wednesday, July 6th beginning at 10 AM to test props. Ross needs about a 21" pitch something on his 100 HP Mercury, and I have a untested PowerTech PTR 21" stainless steel and a Quicksilver 23" 2-blade bronze to try on my boat with 115 HP Mercury.

I have the Garmin handheld GPS, and the prior Prop Testing Day I gave interesting results of the three bronze 21" props all within one MPH of each other.

If Wednesday's weather is unfavorable, will reschedule for Friday, July 8th.

I could sit on the beach with a wrench and props ... Like a NASCAR pit crew ... Pull in and I'll switch props and push ya out ... LOL

Gregg, can you switch days? We could not only test props, but just drift or go slowly, and eat supper at the pavilion or Scott's - make a whole day of it.

I'm in for either day, just let me know. If you guys want we can always grill over at my place, there's room to beach a few boats where my dock is. Was just out all day in WBL, it's up about 1 1/2 ft from last year and there really aren't any 'danger zones' that I can report on, all the old prop bustin' islands are now above water and CLEARLY marked. Looking forward to it!

I think it would be nice to have a outing, hey it will be July 6th and the summer is one quarter of the way over. If Ross can stay into the evening, I can, and we could have a supper on the lake, either at Scott's or at the White Bear Lake pavilion. Jason, are you going to bring your boat and do you want any more prop testing? Could even bring my over-the-hub 22" chopper to try for giggles.

I'll certainly be around all day and the offer to dine at my place stands; it's a block walk to my house from the dock. The pavillion works for me too; let me know when and where and I'll make myself available. Come on over Jason and others, this should be fun!

I am open for the entire day, so if we want to make a day of it, great! It'll be my first time out and once on the water, I never get enough.
I'll bring my extra tank in case Jason shows.

The day on the water at White Bear Lake this Wednesday is unstructured because we do not know who is coming or how long it will last. Ross and David will be on the water at 10 AM to test props. With the prop changings and test runs, this may take three to four hours. After that it is open, be it chit chatting, boating on the lake or whatever. Please call me on my cell phone 612-363-3704 if you plan to come and the time you expect to arrive, just in case we have called it a day. Bring your own food, beverage and plateware for the rest of the day. We could eat at the pavilion or on Scott's beach.

Probably, but I try to avoid driving into town during my "off" time.
When are you leaving for vacation?
If you want to take a short drive, I plan on being around Thursday to Sunday for the most part. Not all that far. About 28 miles from Stillwater.
