Outdrive face lift

Haven't been on for a while, but I decided to take the outdrive of before I tucked the Lowrider away. So I hung it on my engine hoist.  did a lot of sanding, priming, sanding again, And finally top coat ;D

Hey  !  that looks Good, ain't it surprizing how much work is involved in making one of those things look thatgood ?

What kind of primer and paint did you use? My 1974 Mercury lower unit is due for a paint job also.

Red: yes I didn't think it would be so much work. With that said I will be first to admit it is not perfect. But Sure looks better then it did ;D   

David: I used a self etching primer. You can get it at you local auto parts store. The self etching is probably your best bet. It is designed to stick to bar metals better. Especially Alum If I remember correctly. The paint. I decided to use Mercruiser paint. I had to get that online, or You can probably get it at marine shop if you have one near you.  I did though put three coats of clear on it for extra protection and shine. That I didn't use anything special, just something off the shelf at the auto parts store again.
