V 195 Floor replacement
« on: July 24, 2012, 03:53:06 PM »
Well its time to start putting the floor in the V195. Pulled her into the garage last night and made my plan of attack (kind of)  Stoped by express and picked up the double stitched Bias ( think that is what it was called. I also picked up some Cabosil. Is any one here in the Minneapolis St Paul area doing a floor replacement. And if so did you get any cabosil yet was thinking of buying a large bag and splitting it with someone. A bag is 65.00 and a gallon is 15.00 there is about 11 gallons in a bag. Let me know.
I think this has become an addiction.

Got the out drive removed and the inner bell housing and Y pipe. Also got one more stringer out. I think i am going to replace them one at a time. Did i mention that I am trying to get this done in time for Redwing cause I told a buddy he could use my 2nd boat. But then I sold is and now I need to get this one done. Feel free to stop by and help if you would like. I got the A/C on so we wont die in the heat.

I think I'd tell the buddy...sorry, sold the boat I said you could use!

Do you have a motor for this boat?

Got all the floor ground out yesterday and the wood for the transom cut. Is it ok if i just glue everything together in one shot in the boat. Layer of glass 1 piece of wood then glass then wood then glass and be done or should I glass the 2 pieces of the wood together first. I am just doing the bottom half and I can get clamps on everything so it would be clamped and bolted down good. Ideas thoughts?

I don't think it'd matter either way.  For me, since I don't have any clamps & working outside gave me very short pot life on the resin, I did the transom lay-up in the shade and screwed it down tight.  Then put it in the boat.  If you can work quickly enough and have enough clamps to keep the air out, go for it.

I am hoping so. Time will tell. I also have a car that I have to repair and paint the front end and 2 doors this weekend as well. You know just to keep busy. Did I mention I am an insurance agent by day?
I can still sleep when I am dead right? I was told that and have been hoping I will be able to rest a little then.
