I would not hesitate fixing that boat, you have done so much work, it's well worth the time and energy.

I would lend a hand but I'm in Nebraska, you can't put a price on fun...if only my wife knew how much I've spent over the years...

Gregg,

I am one of the newest members on this form, I never worked on fixing an outboard, replacing stringers or getting a boat to run over 55mph.
However, i did restore a 1976 O'day Mariner to better then new condition never having any experience doing it. (I did have a lot of comunication with O'day Maniner form members to get it done)
But with help/support of people who have done it, it makes the job easyer.
We all learn from each other.  Don't give up on it, get done and document the process as you go along.  All of us who will do the same with our boat will appreciate your efforts and help of all the forum members who have gone through the pain working on their project.

This was the result of weeks and weeks of labor restoring the Mariner.

UPDATE ... Finally !

Upper right corner was rotted and came out by hand in first picture.
You can also see how wet it is to the left of rotted corner.

Resin plate is hanging out half way on this side ( 2ed pic, dark gray stuff)

I still have a long way to go ....

Floatation boxes to blame for that? Beginning to look like a patch isn't going to do the job now.

Gregg, do not feel pressured into a deadline for finishing your CV16. Do a good job no matter how long it takes. There are people in our Glastron group (including myself) to share trip boat rides with.

Kind of weird ...
Foam was bone dry, top of wood was wrapped in fiberglass, there is a void behind that part of the transom where the outer transom glass doesn't touch wood ...
Condensation ?
Very damp/wet on this side, which makes it hard to cut wood ...
And this is the easy part, wood between splash well and hull will be a challenge ...

Besides, I am pretty sure you can and will get some help. I'll do what I can but my plate has gotten rather full in the last week or so. Maybe need to plan a weekend and get a few of us over there? Maybe too cramped for more the one body but sometimes it just takes a little moral support.

It's to cramped for just me !
Now that the weathers warmed up a bit, I'll put a few hours a night after work in ...
I'll " call in the troops " when I'm ready to pull the deck ...

You're still going to pull the deck? Then why are you abusing yourself by laying under the spash well?

The wood has to come out ...
Wouldn't be any better with the deck off ...
Wouldn't be any worse ether !

Got some work done today ...
Boat out of corner ... Rub rails off, rear trim pieces off, most of transom wood out .
I think I'm gonna remove windshield .. Just in case it twists and cracks ( more ) when deck is removed ...
I think deck is glassed to hull ... more cuttin' !

Looks good Gregg. Must have been cold in the garage. Will hardly look like the boat you purchased when you are done.

Smart thinking! How do you plan to lift the top half off? Gonna call mike over from across the street to heft it?

Need the picker again?
