That looks really nice, Doran.
I figure since I can't see s**t at night anyway, I won't be on the water so long after dark that I'd need to see my gauges - when it's that dark, I better be pulling up on a trailer....

They make in-line led dimmers for like $3, so rather than wiring in resistors,  I'd just put in a dimmer for infinite adjustments and could easily adjust again should I swap out a gauge.

The brightness variance is due to different eras of gauge technologies.   The original ones from Barb have a thick cardboard face the don't allow for any backlight penetration, only side lighting...where as the (assuming newer) ones do, so those appear brighter.

It's all good...I'm looking forward to a fuel gauge finally!

i just can't understand why you guys always want to do things the easy way, when there are so many difficult and complicated solutions that would take more time, may cost more in the long run, and might not work as well or not at all  ;)

Almost there...Gas tank is back in, new fuel cap from Hotwired's parts boat and a safety kill switch.  Steering cable will be here tomorrow, then its just vent hoses & a floor and I'll be ready for summer.  (Sorry, low rez cellphone pictures...)

Looking good, Doran.  It's nice to make progress, right?  We had sunlight yesterday & today ... so I'm making progress on our new deck at home.  I'll get to the boat, eventually.  That kill switch I almost didn't notice -looks like it was suppose to be there.

Doran, I thought you already did the floor? Maybe that was the one you sold?

Ugh...yes, I did do the floor already...BUT...I had to cut out the center section so I could get the tank cleaned of all the crud that was in there.  So, now its going to be removable like it was from the factory.

Looks good Doran. I saw my boat all weekend, while I was doing this.

Mama wants the fence finished, so I am going to finish it so I can actually get something done on the CVZ.

See, I'm working it the other way...I'm finishing up the boat so I can work on the other stuff.

And let me tell you...after 3 years of that logic...this is the last spring that's gonna work!  The 'General' wants her list done...

Maybe you can talk with my wife,  her list comes first. Honestly, it will be nice to have the back yard finished. Still have a ton of work to do but it is getting there. The quicker I get it done, the quicker I can get to my stuff.

He hee, the "dirt" down here is more red clay than real dirt Jason!  I took my wife (from down here) to Iowa one time, she asked what all that black stuff on the ground was.  I had to inform her that's real dirt, that you can actually grow something in without adding mulch, sand, etc.......

Looking good Doran!

New helm & steering cable installed.  I knew I needed a new steering cable, but boy did I!

Items left to do:

Vent Lines
Install floor
Install radio

Just curious, if you needed a new helm why didn't you go with the tilt helm? I picked up a used one for Phoenix Rising because I was having leg room issues, but may be it is different in the CVZ/CVXs than in the Starflights.

A) Cost - I'd have to get adjustable seat mounts in addition to the cost of tilt steering, and I can add it down the line.
B) I don't have any clearance issues, seats I built are perfect for the steering as is.

(but mostly A)

I've really spent enough this season...oh, did I mention I'll have a 16 yo boy, driving a Mustang, in 6 days?  Another $1600/yr flying out of my arse...Happy Birthday to me!
