Stereo arrived yesterday...'Refurbished' was being generous...its more like a used 'take off & return' or a Demo model being sold as refurbished.  Its clearly been used.

But...for $50, I am not complaining!  The one neat thing is that the mounting 'cup' for the remote actually fits into a standard gauge cutout, so if one had the room, it could go into the dash.

Been trying different places for the head unit... here's what I've come up with... it gives the bench seat folks control as well:

Is the head unit shown going behind the bench seat or is that not the area shown?

Looks to be in the gunnel/gunwhale storage area behind the captain's chair, in front of & beside the rear bench ..

For the most part Ross, I'm still in 'mock up' phase on my interior.  I like the seats I built last summer, very comfortable, but, they don't swivel.

I like having the gunwale panels as I think they ad more support than the stock ones, but don't like how they look, etc, etc...so I'll keep tweaking until I'm happy with it and then, eventually finally get it upholstered.

I may paint the primed wood yellow to match the upholstery...but that's about all the 'beautification' its gonna get this season.  Still not sure its exactly how I wanted.

The radio there seems like a good idea, but I can see the kids bumping buttons, etc...and it won't recess any farther back.  So it may need to be moved next season.

No kidding. I didn't realize you were doing the sides too. Was it all shot or just didn't like how it was done?

The original CVZ & CVX's (right)? don't have any gunwale storage, my Bayliner & '96 Glastron both did.  There's a lot of additional storage there if you have full sides, so I wanted to add it to Goldie.

Here's how it is from the factory (minus the McD's yellow)...and it was rotted & shot:
