Does anybody have extra exhaust hose you would like to sell? I need about a 22" run for sure, of 3" (ID). If somebody had two of those, that would be even better and I would swap both sides.
I think mine was compromised from being removed a few times in the past couple years. You have to kink it to remove it, and I think the inside had started to break down some. When I ran the motor breifly in the driveway this past weekend, some pieces of hot rubber were shooting out of the thru hull exhaust ports. The flappers are intact, so I figured that the inside of the exhaust hose must be deteriorating. I took one side off (the other side doesn't want to come off), and looked inside. It was the oddest looking thing - as you looked down the tube there is all this string going from side to side (like a cross section of string). So the rubber is coming apart from the inside, and there is a bunch of string / fabric in there that is remaining. So since the rubber is not there to hold it all together, the string / fabric comes loose. I am not sure how long something like this will hold up - they are a little soft but not too bad. I know Brian's had a full blown hole in one side, a few years back. Don't know how quickly you might expect to get to that stage though.
The other thing that could have happened with this was I suppose something could have tried to live in there last winter. I stored my boat off site in a dirt floor barn, and it's possible something got in there. Flappers had no damage, but the inside of the hose definately has issues now. I didn't see any nesting evidence come flying out though, just really hot pieces of rubber.
If nobody has extra to sell, is there a place (local preferred) to purchase? Is there a recommended temp rating for this stuff? I was looking online, and you see some hose rated at 350 degrees, some at 500. Ideally, it would be nice to get something that at least has a little flexibility to it, as this stuff is really hard to get on & off. Also, what should I expect to pay for the stuff? I know it gets pretty spendy per foot.
