Nightmare's over ... Maybe ...
« on: July 18, 2013, 01:04:03 PM »
Got gas and fired her up today, noted when I squeezed primer bulb gas was leaking out of sides and screws of fuel pump ...
It was finger tight ... YEEKS !
Started pretty fast and idled down OK ...
Good water pressure, 10 psi revved up a bit and 5 psi at idle.
Fire extinguisher is most likely from 1976 and I need a new one ...

Time to enjoy ... I hope ... LOL

I concur. I felt the difference 'tween soggy & solid first time I cracked the throttle on the 153. Best of luck on the re-maiden voyage Gregg!

Looks great! How come the fuel pump was loose? Did you do something to it or did it rattle loose?
You shouldn't have to worry about getting towed. You did nothing to the motor internally, unless some of my wiren falls apart.  ;D

With all the jarring of waves on a boat, good advice would be to check the tightness of every screw and bolt on the boat and motor every year. I don't but I should.

Gregg nice water pressure gage, looks like it would have matched the gages in my CVX16 perfectly. Did you paint the center cap on your steering wheel? Good luck on your first outing, hope the boat runs/works good for you. Time to enjoy it!

That is one seriously good looking craft.   Curious, does the FG in your registration mean "Fast Glastron", Fast Glas', Formidible Glastron?(trying to keep it clean, I had other ideas)   Anyway, good luck, sounds like you got the bugs out.

Joe (Ferguson Poole Inc ) posted this on CGOA site ...

http://www.classicglastron.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=5545&start=100

From Joe ...
Hi Gregg,
The tilt pin bolt and nylon lock nut can be removed, and left-out permanently if wanted, to achieve greater tuck-under. The factory ships the outboard with the bolt to protect in the case of installation onto a hull which could be dangerous with full tuck-under.
 Your rig looks real sharp.

Regards,
Joe

...

It limits how far motor will tuck under ... installed wedges will give me more tuck under then I had before
Any thoughts on removal ?
Test and see what happen's ?
Do you have one Ross ?
