Sadly the #4 cyl is effed up on Kevin's motor, swallowed a ring. Surprizing it held 85 psi vs 120+ in the other 3 holes.

Which brings us back to the '78 Erude 140. Looks like that'll be the one we put together first. Started layin the parts out.

Guess I gotta light a fire under Chris from CNR's butt to get the block back. It's been freakin 6 weeks!? Well let's just hope it's worth the wait

We just finished scraping all the poo off'n the '78 cyl heads when it suddenly dawned on us they were hi-comp. WooHoo!

Note the difference: Good for 140-150 psi on pump premium?

Been grinding'n weighing piston & connecting rod assys. Got em within 5 grams of each other but might even try to do a lil more.

Probly gonna knock a lil off the flywheel too. Cuz basically the only reason for a flywheel is to house the stuff that creates spark ... If you have a well balanced motor, and could come up with another way to ignite it, you really wouldn't need a flywheel.

Hung another shelf & started tryin to organize stuff a lil more. Cleaned up some more of the parts for the 140.

I have never figured it out. You take care of stuff like its your woman and it never fails it blows up in your face. Take sombody that beats the crap out of it and never does any manintence and the damn thing will run for ever! I have seen it with cars, boats, and travel trailers.  Stuff I wouldnt even get around the block on before it blew up. Everybody eles gets away with it. I hope you can fix your motor cheap and may it last a long time. :}

With the exception of the '75 115 block I got from you Joe. Too bad the powerhead to mid bolt spacing is different than post '77, cuz that's probly the cleanest block I have. Well, the port timing is different too ...

I always run good gas & oil, clean filters, grease 'em'n lube em up regularly. Flush 'em religiously.

I reckon I might be a lil demanding of them sometimes perhaps. But I don't think you could call it 'abuse'? Not like I run flat out all day long, couldn't if I wanted to. The chine walk is too extreme.

Y'oughta see some'a the stuff rolling down the roadway/waterways 'round these parts. Yikes!

Ya soon as I get the dang block back we should be about ready to go for reassembly. Bobby's lobbying hard for all new connecting rod bearings but he ain't gonna get em. Not at $50 bucks a pop he ain't!

Good news! Finally sposed to have the '78 140 block back tomorrow. WooHoo! ('Bout freakin' time ...)

Have just about everything else cleaned up. Got the rebuild gasket, O-ring, etc kit. Got the majority of the fasteners nice'n shiny. Ready to put this pig back together!

Hope to have the case together tomorrow night. All down hill from there. The 88 Special I got from Kev has the upgraded/all in one powerpack(s)/voltage regulator module, so that oughta be a nice, read: simpler, addition to the 140.

Made some mods to my low budget work table: We raised it bout 8" & increased the surface area from 30x60" to 44x80". Gonna screw 2x4 around the perimeter tonight to straighten it out some, gotta a lil wang to it. Those were two of Bobby Beer's sisters old "hurricane shutters". Garage kept 3/4" PT.

Sanded em last night'n slapped on a coat of thinned Ben Moore 'pro classic' (good stuff) enamel I had layin around. Just sanded & coated again. Getting better but sure doesn't seem to wanna fill up the grain right away. Oh well, just means another coat or two I spose.

Hope to start reassembling the motor in the next day or two, got the weld/repair on the base of the block all cleaned up. Everything else is purty much good to go, have all new gaskets, seals, orings etc. Should be a lil screamer when we get her put back together.
