Well the final coat of paint is drying. Notice we reverted to white. The 'aluminum' color was a bit much, made ya start going a lil crosseyed if ya looked at it for too long. Got bout 8 coats of paint on it so it oughta hold up purty good. Plus it'll never rust ...

Tomorrow we start putting the motor back together. WooHoo!!!

Gonna be a real Frankenrude. Ported '78 140 block & crank w/milled '83 hi-comp heads, balanced rotating assy w/020 Wiseco pistons, '92 88 base & mid w/fastrac T&T, '86 90 gearcase, '83 1 5/16" carbs, reeds & stuffers, modded '78 bubble butt exhaust w/filler blocks, and '92 88 electronics. Try sayin that 5 times fast ...

Providing we put all the right parts back in all the right places, and break it in correctly. The only foreseeable problem is the possibility of needing to rejet the carbs. But if'n that's the case so be it. Cuz lemme tell ya the last thing I want is the sob runnin lean?

Stay tuned

OK is this a cutting table for canvas, or an assembly table for engines?

It drives me nuts when people don't put the caps back on the rods when they take them off.

Some news, finally. Well we came to a grinding halt on the project due to lack of funds. However the "season" has officially started, so's I'm actually makin a lil money now.

Regardless the motor reassembly is presently in the very capable hands of Don Weiler. However I'm not convinced we're on the same page. I keep telling him, "Don, I don't want/need a race motor." But he keeps talking about scalloping the pistons/cylinders, squaring/opening the ports, relieving the exhaust. Smoothing this, and grinding that off. He assures me it'll be reliable. We'll see.

In the meantime:  Just finished a new lil grinder bench & hung some more shelves in my work room at home. The bench'll soon have a shelf at windowsill height. My philosophy is you can never have too many shelves, or 5 gal buckets or milk crates. (Not necessarily in that order ...)

Ain't that the truth. Mebbe David'll let me borrow his ...?

Anyway, my ultimate aim for the lil room at the house is to make it look like an operating room. Hell it's only 12 x 14 w/8' ceiling. Cain't be that hard?

I'm talkin gloss white paint & lights everywhere. Like the engine room in a high dollar yacht. It's the crews responsibility to keep it from gettin greasy ...
