Almua alloy
« on: March 08, 2014, 09:19:56 PM »
I  purchased some of the stuff this last week to repair the engine cover hinges for Phoenix Rising. They were worn down quite a bit but with this aluminum alloy rod I was able to repair the worn parts on the hinges so everything matches up again .

This is one of the outside hinge pieces before the repair.

Now after brazing.

After filing in fitting.

It will be interesting to see how it holds up throughout the season.

I've seen that stuff...I'm curious if its works as well as they say.

I can't weld (well, I welded during my Green Giant days), but I wasn't very good...I could do alumaloy.

Looks like it works ...
Could you find some sort of plastic sleeve to put over the pin, so it won't be metal to metal contact ?

I have had that thought Gregg, there are some thin plastic bushings we use out at work that might fit.
