Brass would be better then steel which is what you'll likely get a Napa but its not like most of us run in salt water.

It wasn't the frost plugs, it was the water drain plugs in the engine. I went to fleet farm and got some.

Sounds good Ben! Much better than Phoenix's 140 at the moment, got towed off the lake again! I have two cylinders with low compression, I hope it is my valve lash again.

Physically put the boat in the water today....not being the smartest man in the world thought I had to bush the button on the throttle lever to get the put in gear and go.  So sitting there at the dock reving the hell out of it with the engine bay open. Only to call my dad (the former owner) after I had all ready pulled it out of the water and was halfway home to find out you just push the throttle forward! Hopefully trying again this weekend. Tested theory when I got home and yes-sir-ee-bob sure as a bear poops in the woods that prop was spinning.

Next time see if you can find where it's coming in ...
Check drain plug, is it old with hard rubber ?
Is it tight when you throw lever ?
GOOD  ...  Small amount isn't bad ...

Just talked to Ben ..
He put boat in water this morning, motor will rev up and run good out of gear ... But when he put it in gear and take it for a spin it will only rev to 2000 rpm's and will die after about 15 to 20 seconds, if he back off throttle before it die's it will keep running. It will starts back up easily after it die's. Will run at half throttle with out dying.
He has new gas in tank, new fuel filter, carb isn't all gummed up.
Maybe fuel pump ?
Any ideas ?

He's on the way back from the lake and will add to post shortly ...
