Well, I thought I would update this thread again, and keep it going:) maybe it will continue to help others, and I appreciate all the advice, input, and allowing me to do this "NON GLASTRON " project on this forum

I feel now, that the block has no internal crack :). I got all the air leakage gremlins taken care of, best I could, some of these steel clamps are crap, they can be overtightened, and then they break, causing frustration, curse words, and high blood pressure, and and a few other things lol.

I have only lost a few lbs of pressure since I put the air to the system. I am glad that I did this before I continue on, if something else is wrong, it wont be an internal engine block crack. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that at least this is a good block and internals.

I got the cylinder head brass expansion plugs that I needed, so now onto installing it. I then will install my 93 manifold that has the Mercarb on it. I know that I will be purchasing another one in time, but for now I just want to get to the point where I can fire it up, and run it on the bench ( ground) for a while, and see what else she will need.

I am also install the wiring harness from the 93, along with the Delco EST system, even bought a new part, the jumper harness :)

Well I hope that this is project works out, and if it does, and I finally get to splash day. I will be a happy camper :)

Then maybe then I will sell it, and buy  Glastron Intimindator lol I wish! and probably will keep on wishing for one

You're not the only one with a non-Glastron project here. My OMC to Mercruiser conversion is a well known and "controversial" project subject to bashing and ridicule because of the boat brand which shall remain nameless for fear of forty lashes and hot tar with feathers.

Well time to update this thread again.

I was able to start the Merc today for the first time since I removed her from the donor boat., and replaced all those parts from the 93 3.0 to the 86 140.

The Merc fired right up as soon as the fuel was pumped to the carb bowl, she sounds good, and idles good, however when I go to give it gas, she will try to cut out, but I can get it to rev up, but she will idle best at the moment.

I can't run the engine anymore until I can find a way to reduce the open exhaust engine noise, someone came to my right rear corner of my property ling to see what the LOUD noise was, and I saw him, and he left quickly....I think he is the one who called the Police, not positive, but if he took the time to spy, and I saw him, I think it was him...

I can't set the EST timing at the moment, because  of not being able to run the engine, and the 5/8'' brass nut that screws to the fuel pump is in the way of me being able to rotate the dizzy to some degree. i will figure out something, maybe that electric fuel pump y'all mentioned will solve the problem.

I have a video of the first start up today

Engine sounds really good!

If it dies when you give it gas it may just need a new boost plunger in the carb or the timing isn't advancing as quickly as it should.

thanks Rich! it still has some bugs to work out. The starter sounds like it's dragging, and of course I need to check that timing. I did buy the EST jumper for the timing, however can't do that just yet. I need to get the distributor to swing more than it does at the moment. I do know that the timing is not correct, because I haven't set it yet, maybe that is more of the problem, at this point

I do think I need a carb rebuild, and plan on doing that once I get the money for the kit.

Removing the thermostat is also a way to prevent a cracked head, manifold, block, or blown head gasket from leaking.
Brandon, makes sense, but I don't have water sitting on top of the pistons, wonder about a warped head because of the over heat problem the po  had once, but still not convinced that water can get into the engine oil from a blown marine head gasket
Water not sitting on top of pistons, maybe time for a compression leak down test.
