I use Seafoam (spray) because it's easy to find, but Mercury powertune would work ...
Powertune's probly the strongest for a decarb. Lil pricey but got all the good stuff in it. I'm told it's the most effective.

For a fuel additive I use the Seafoam liquid.

Think the one in NY is a better deal. Did you see that oversized Glastron trailer? Plus the 135 had the highest compression heads.

Great thanks, I've mailed and hopefully they might sell the rails and brackets, if not I think I will ask Aaron if he knows of anywhere closer to me and if not then I might have them made in Stainless :-)

Can't wait till the spring  :P it's only a few days now and the days will start getting lighter earlier :-)

Looks good ...
Sea Star steering , Laser II 21P . Motor mounted on middle hole.
Flake looks very nice.
Could you remove, clean, sand & oil teak strips ?

Thanks Gregg,

Yes that's another job still to be done, and I was wondering if it would be worth replacing the teak strips but I wasn't sure, as its near on impossible to replace that "used look" with new parts. But I hear you, and they do look rather drab. I'm not sure how easy they are to remove from such an old structure, any pointers on how? They look like the original strips...

Drill out rivets, looks like edges of wood is ruff, might be able to clean up by sanding, clean wood,  oil with teak oil ...
Replace rivets ...
Teak last's forever unless pieces are cracked or broken... Just keep it oiled, two or three times a season.

I cleaned and oiled my teak and I can tell you that every time my teak gets wet, I'm re-oiling it.  It looks great, and I personally wouldn't do it any other way!

Replace rivets ...
Or use screws. There's a piece of ply glassed in underneath. That way you can take em off and oil both sides.

Thanks guys, all helpful stuff  ;D I will drill them and then see what I can find, I do have a saw mill near me so maybe they can replace/recut some for me, I can't imagine that will cost more than $100 each side and as you say they last so long it's not that expensive.

The ones currently fitted look like they are varnished, is that normal or do you think someone has done that to make them look newer?

Does anyone know anything about the petrol/water separator filters? I have a black one in the stern bilge area but I can't see any numbers on it, it looks original though, it has a sort of bleed screw/bolt at the top. I'm wondering if I should replace the whole unit or just the canister, what do you guys think?

Remove, clean and oil them ... If they look ok reuse them .

Can you get a picture of your water separator filters ?
With a 2 stroke motor a water separator filters is a very good idea.

Thanks 84 Carlson, I will do that...

Gregg, I don't have a pic of the filter as I'm around 90km away from her, so I will take some pics of the W/S filter after Xmas and post here. I did do a search online and the filter looks to be a Mercury one but again it could be anything.

I have just upgraded the petrol pipes for unleaded from the front (oversized) fuel tank to the rear filter, I spoke to Bill Kelly the Mastertech from Mastertech marine www.maxrules.com and I now have better fuel supply to the filter, which is great but I do need to work out if the filter needs replacing.

Once she is complete she will be a great piece of art and a great testament to older engineering. Who needs or wants a new boat! LOL Not me  :P

That filter should be replaced at least once a year Mike, I would definitely put a fresh one on before the season starts.  Any water trapped will stay in the filter on those, if it fills up with water it will dump it into the motor = BAD THING!   ;)

Just my two cents......

Thanks Mark,

Didn't realise the w/s was so important. Will defo take your 2 cents worth and replace the whole thing!

I don't know its status, so if it's so important then I will replace, I won't run her again until I have replaced the whole unit. She's an old engine and I can't have her die on me after all the love I've given her... she's my baby  :P
