Sad news, got this a few hours ago ..
« on: April 20, 2015, 08:40:48 PM »
Hi

A member of your group, Brian Bondehagen, has passed away.  He has no immediate family.  His friend, who has been charged with selling the boat,  approached me to help sell the boat.  He also wanted to know if I would buy it.  I am a boat dealer, however, I do not deal in classic restored boats.  My only resource is ABOS/NADA bluebook.  Would you be able to help me with value, and or selling it?  I have numerous pictures.  I have one attached.  The boat is nearly flawless.  New clearcoat, new transom, original seats and carpet.

Thank you for your time.
Brian

Sorry to hear for the friends of Brian.

This is just my opinion and I do not really want to go into reasons on value because they are all subjective.

$3500 advertised retail, but take $3000.

I agree. 3-3500 is a good price.

I'm thinking start at $4000, it is very good shape, you can always go down ...
Few years ago at Red Wing I asked him how much it would take for him to sell it to me ... and he said $12,000.

That is a beautiful CVX ... if you have and ebay account Post it for sale there with a high price and entertain offers.  I sell a lot of things on Ebay and do this a lot with my more expensive items.  Asking and getting are different things but Ebay will get to the international market.  That may  be a good collector market to address.  Selling it locally at your expected price of $4k should not be a problem either but if you want to get the best dollar fro who ever is to benefit from the sale ... or if the estate mandates advertising it, ebay works pretty well for me.  Selling it fast here on this site, someone will get an incredible boat at a very reasonable price.  As Jerry said, the engine is worth that.
.. it is what it is ... and that is how it should be!

Sad to hear. RIP Brian.

Nice looking boat. Too bad there's no collectors market for em. Yet.

Ya I'd think 4K'd be more than a fair asking price?

Well worth 4K or more, even better since it is the start of the season.

From Bob ...

I spoke to Tom Papez.  He was Brian Bondehagen’s friend.  He currently has the boat for sale.  One of you found the Craigs list ad and included the link below.  If any of you are interested in the boat, or if you would like any information regarding Brian’s passing please call Tom ..

Thank you

No need for the PM's Gregg.  Tom is listing the boat, so contacting him via the CL ad is all anyone needs to do.

I spoke to Brian Bell today about the boat, he (@Cedar Lake Sales), isn't listing the boat, just trying to get a fair value to see what its worth.

Sorry to hear about Brian's passing.

His boat is stunning. Should easily bring 4 grand. I'd buy it right now for that if I had it. I hope who ever buys it knows what they are getting

Yes, I do.  Unfortunately, Cancer.  I don't know any more details than that, but he had no immediate family, or close relatives, so that's why his friend is trying to settle his estate for him.

Very sad news indeed!  Brian was always very kind to me, took the time to visit when in Red Wing, and would periodically email me just to see what was up with the boats, etc.  He was always wondering if I was going to make the next meet. It was a shock to hear of his passing. Last correspondence/email from him was last fall, and there was no mention of illness. Assuming that whatever it was it happened quickly.

Rest in Peace my friend!

I had a chance to speak with Tom Papen this evening, Brian Bondehagen's friend.

Just FYI... Apparently, Brian successfully made it through a bout with Cancer, but then had major issues with COPD. He was a regular smoker. Ultimately, his lungs gave out. I did happen rather quickly.

Tom was a good friend that lived close by, helped him with the G/C with mechanical issues, etc. over the years, used to go on boat trips with him to have lunch, etc. Tom helped him to the end, and continues to help now with his estate.

Also, apparently the CVX-16 sold to a guy that lives in/near San Antonio TX, is a Pilot, spends time on a lake north of here, and has a home near a smaller lake in town, and has several other Glastrons... No, it's not me!  Weird, All of that is pretty close to my profile, but it's not me.  Does anybody know Todd Walker?  The area he was describing sounds like just a few miles from my house.  Anyway, I would like to meet Mr. Walker one of these days! :)   Tom said the ad is still up, but needs to take it down soon.

Thought you would like to know.
