Carpet in gold GT's
« on: May 16, 2017, 08:09:20 AM »
Hello,
I posted this on the main classic glastron forum, but have received little, actually no response.  That forum seems to be pretty slow.  Does anyone know what color the original carpet in a 1979 GT150 would have been?  Sources for similar colors? I have searched the web and carpet does not seem to come in too many colors anymore unless I am looking in the wrong places.

Thanks
Daryl

Welcome to the Group Daryl! From what I have found Marine carpet's are limited in color production but i bet if you dig hard enough or find the right upholstery shop it can be found. I will also be looking for the yellow shag carpet for my gold and yellow 79 cvz-18 eventually when I get around to it again. I do some looking for it every now and then, but have had no luck yet.

Again welcome, also, if you have pictures of your GT please post some. We love to see pictures on here!  ;D

Welcome to the club!  You are going to find that this is the most active Glastron club in the world...  Great people, great information, and great support!  Check out the Vendor Resources page to see if there is anything there that might lead you in the correct direction.  I've replaced carpeting in 3 or 4 of my glastron's.  It's difficult to find factory carpet because it's just so darn outdated.  I've always tried to find color matched aftermarket options as it seems to be the best and most available.

We don't have a good picture of the carpet in a 1979 GT-150 ..
But some of the other 1979 models were also MF gold with yellow interiors and seem to have light brown to darker brown carpet.

There is a upholstery shop in town that has been open for about 50 years, the old guy that runs it is a little crotchety and he doesn't take credit cards but he might actually have some carpet that might work.  I completely forgot he was still open.  I am currently in the process of replacing my stringers/transom.  The final cloth should be going on the stringers this week and I plan to start fitting the deck after returning from a business trip to Orlando next week.  I found a couple of great GT150 threads here that I am going to read up on for ideas.

Mr. Cheep here. :)  Unless you are going to make a show boat you might want to try Manards, they have a good selection of colors and you can usually get it on sale for around a buck a foot. I've found nice blues, Browns, reds, and I think they have a gold also.  And there is always Overtons they also have a good selection of colors.

I have the cheap Home Depot indoor / outdoor stuff in my boat ...
Finding anything in orange is difficult, if not impossible, so thought I would add to the "Orange Carpet" thread for others.

By CV16SS has Home Depot carpet too. Price cheap yea but quality is still good. Only reason I went with Home Depot carpet is they had the closest match.

Ya ... Seems to be holding up pretty good.
No problem finding any shade of blue carpet, in any price range.

Unfortunately, no Manards down here in the balmy south.

They make auto carpet replacements, not the bulk roll needed to do a boat.
Unless I'm missing it ...

its there. under product search, where it says by vehicle type change it to "by yardage" and then cut pile.  4 yards of Power Pumpkin Cutpile is $155.  Thats kind of pricey per yard, but for a color no one else has might be worth it.

I found a perfect match for the red in the 23 at this place.
I shopped around and the price was great.
