Sad story
« on: May 26, 2017, 11:09:51 PM »
My first boat was a 63 Glasspar Seafair Sunliner with a heavy duty tandem trailer.  The thing that made it special, and got me into collecting Fiberglass boats, it was the only I/O Sunliner I have ever seen. It had a Buick V6 motor and a Muncie Gearworks outdrive. The O/D was bad and you couldn’t get parts.  I bought an OMC 3.8 V6 and outdrive for it.  One thing leads to another, but I never did get to work on it. I did 5 other boats but didn’t get to the Glasspar.  It’s in my garage and still have a to-do list of another boat, and Dottie’s 68 Impala to do.  About 10 years ago I asked a friend of mine that lived in Turtle Lake WI if I could store the trailer there.  Well, long story short he passed away about a year and a half ago. I didn’t find out about it until last fall.  I called his son to see about picking it up this spring.  He said he didn’t remember seeing it. Well someone sold it. It could have been his kids thinking it was their Dad’s, or his girlfriend who sold all kinds of stuff before the kids got there.  Either way, I need a tandem trailer or someone who wants a project rebuilding a classic Glasspar.  I need to get rid of some of this stuff that I just don’t have time to do.  The only boat I want to keep is my 63 Winner fishing boat to take camping.  Looking for suggestions.

Few trailer on CL every week.
How much do you think it weighs ?
2000 lbs. ?

The outboard version is about 700 lbs. dry/no motor.

If I can get some money for it. There's over $6,000 in the Chris Carson 150. It has special valves and high compression pistons and runs 7,000 RPM, and there's at least 5 Grand in the boat. I had it out twice in the last two years.

I would discuss the possible sale of your GT160 with Jerry Sellner. He has a lot of contacts, a website that sells boats, and knows a little about your boat, since he drove it at Red Wing years ago. Other possibilities are Chris Carson, and Scream and Fly.

How long is the Glasspar? What do you think it's worth or how much do you want for it?

I think it's 16'. It's a big boat built for offshore.I have $500 in the 3.8 OMC and O/D which is like new. That would make me happy.
