Photobucket
« on: June 30, 2017, 08:16:48 AM »
Got an email in my spam folder today from Photobucket ...
They won't allow 3rd party picture hosting.
So almost every picture I've posted is gone !

Looking into ransom payment to get them back, or finding another hosting site.
BUT ... That would be a huge task to edit every post with new picture ...

Pay the 1 month fee of $39.99 and get them all off.  Then tweet at Photobucket and tell them to pound rocks.  (Make sure you can cancel after 1 month though...I didn't read all the fine print.)

You'll want to delete your account eventually.  Personally, I moved to uploading photos to the website whenever I can...they're under our control (for the most part) and should stick around.

All my photos go to Google Photos & MS OneDrive.  You should always have 2 cloud backups.

I pulled all my photos off of photo bucket a couple months ago. I need to get a couple cloud services going with expanded memory for backups eventually. Right now I have everything on a 3tb external hard drive.

I have all pictures backed up to 2 computers and 2 external HDD's ... Plus a memory stick.
It's just editing all the posts ...
Seeing how much space I have left on One Drive.

Isn't it grand how technology has made our lives easier and better.  I use an external drive and cloud as a 2nd, although I feel local storage grants better control than cloud as users of Photobucket can attest.  I could easily go on a rant, but I will control myself this time.

Mine are fine too. I've gotten really sick of Photobucket though. WAY too many ads.

Most of mine are gone ...

Shawn ...
I'm confused about order of pictures in the "CVX Barrel back seat" thread.
I know your busy now ... But when you get some free time ...
I can email you pictures, if needed.

Some one on Facebook was asking about CV21 gauges, went to CGOA to grab a picture of your dash ... GONE !
Heard about it from Frank, but wasn't sure what he was saying ... Got an email from Photobucket same day everything shut down ...

Didn't store anything there, just used it for hosting.
Opened Photobucket for picture reference while editing posts, Three to five ad's per page !
CRAZY !

Using my "One Drive" ... Works OK ... But filling up FAST !
1.8 gig's left ...

Greg let me know what pics you need and i'll shrink'em down and post them . I'd post my photobucket web page but to try and find one pic out of 3000+ pics with popups galore isnt worth the time  .

I'm going to use this site till I find a better way to host pictures:

postimage.io

It is free and easy to use, and appears relatively ad free for the time being. Easy sign up and just utilize the "Hotlink for Forums" option to post up.

I have all my pictures backed up, so I didn't lose anything, but still, what a pain.
1st test run of a few nights ago on a friends pontoon:

Gil ...  If you could just repair/edit your posts, that would be great.
Dave ... I'm leary of all hosting sites.

All members ... If you could repair your posts ... That would be great.

Most of the "Vendor and Repair Resources" is repaired.
Will start on "Meet threads" next ...

Welp, it look like I just got that email from P-Bucket. Gonna have to start replacing all my pics directly from my computer and close my P-Bucket account.
