Apparently there is a new MN law that requires you to remove the drain plug from your boat any time you are on the road. It went into effect July 1st, and I'm sure they are trying to catch people over the weekend; just a heads up. Don't get ticketed!
-
Wonder if the law applies if you have a cover on while trailering? It's really a good idea anyway, ever get caught in a downpour (it happens!) it could take on a lot of water pretty fast.
-
Also wonder if it applies if you have an automatic bilge pump...
-
Good looking out for everybody though Scott, forgot to say that. Surely they're not going to stop every boat on the road, driver's license checks and stopped for something else could be a problem though.
GA had a couple new laws go into effect 7/1 also. Teenagers are not allowed to use a cellphone when driving, (duh), and NOBODY is allowed to text while driving, (double duh!).

Might be more that they are worried you are going to transport water from one lake to another. Millfoil seeds????
-
yep, worried about invasive species.

Wonder if it's enforceable if you have a WI boat in MN. I alway's pull mine anyway when I am tying the boat down.
-
The nice little DNR girl told me about that when I was getting ready to launch at Tonka.
Yep ... Because stuff get tranported from lake to lake/river.
Never take mine out unless theres water in hull.
My trailer looked like a hanging garden after pullin' it out of the lake ... Lotsa milfoil !

You have to drain live wells too, I usually let em swim around till I get home and eat em. I guess draining the water is to prevent the spread of fish diseases, spiny water fleas, zebra mussels.

Ain't that a trip. Makes sense I spose. Keep yer crap in your own lake ...! Experienced Zebra Mussels in Buffalo years ago. If'n ya ask me any nonindigenous invasive species be they plant or animal should be eradicated with extreme predudice. You might recall Boca Grande vs Iguanas. Made national headlines. Poor lil Iguanas.
Nasty a** belligerent smelly cantankerous oversized lizard imo. They had three shifts of hitmen whackin em on Boca Grande for awhile. Good for them.

Is there a critter you like Doug?
-
There was Jerry. But he started breakin' down so I had to sell him for body parts ...
Currently critterless.

For the 2010 boating season they supposedly will not be ticketing only giving warnings. Good idea to get into the practice nontheless.
