Title: Attwood stern light components into a stock mount?
Post by: demian5 on August 27, 2019, 05:18:28 PM
Anyone put the parts out of an Attwood stern light into a factory base to get it working? I have heard legend of this being able to be done, but would like to hear from someone. Id neeed to swap the receptacle and the swivel cover.

Thanks in advance.

I had crumby short wires on my 87.  I purchased a new base at West Marine (don't know if it was attwood, probably was), and the plastic connector part swapped right into my old base.  It was a perfect fit.

I had to do a little trimming of the plastic insert under the top shoulder and it fit good. Nice and tight. The screw to get the flip cover off the attwood was tight and had to use vice grips to get off after almost stripping the Phillips head.

This one worked on my CVX-18 with no modification or trimming at all. I just pushed the old plastic insert out from the bottom. The plastic insert from the Attwood light base fit right in there.

LOL. The last photo makes it look like the Attwood insert does not fit. That was meant to be an "action shot" of how to replace just the plastic inaert.

The black plastic insert fits completely flush without any modifications.
