Title: 78 Hammond El Dorado
Post by: RussellA on October 10, 2019, 08:08:03 AM
Hello everyone. I have recently purchased a 1978 Hammond El Dorado and Im looking for Hammond Enthusiasts who may be able to give me an educated guess at the value. Here are a few facts. The same person that bought the boat new was the only owner and he sold it to me a couple months ago. It was stored in a garage in Georgia entire life of boat. The boat has 56 hours on the original engine. The body and engine are in excellent condition. It looks like a snapshot out of time and my mechanic was shocked at its condition.  There are some small blemishes but in general its a 9/10. The boat runs great and has never had ethanal gas in it. Would love you thoughts. Trying to decide if this is something I should store and protect or put in the lake. Thanks

That's a great boat.  Enjoy it on the water, use it, and show it off.

Welcome to the forum Russell !

WOW !  56 hours !  WOW !

NADA only lists the 1985 version, but the "Suggested List Price" for a new 1985 Hammond El Dorado V-1950 at $17,900.
That seems kind of high, as a late 70's Glastron V-195 went for $9500, and a CVX20 Jet went for $10,000.
You could check "Kelly Blue book" and see if number are the same ..

You might want to look at brochure for years.
Looks like button style interior was the 1979 models and 1978 was pleated vinyl.

You got a 40 year old brand new boat !
I would use it ..

That is beautiful - I agree with the others...use it, care for it and show it off.

KEEP IT AND USE IT!!! Enjoy the boat but clean it off when you are done and tuck it back away in the garage.

Really hard to put a value on that boat. I don't think there have been any Hammonds in the club here and I have never seen one in person. Pretty rare but that does not necessarily make it valuable. Occasionally they pop up for sale but never that nice.
