Paint Color number to match 1975 off white gel coat?
« on: October 13, 2019, 01:01:05 PM »
I was searching the site and couldn't come up with anybody matching the "white" gelcoat on the mid seventies boats with any kind of paint number or name.
I've made a commitment to paint the whole boat. Freakin Fuchsia for the flake.
CV16
It was painted with what looks like a single part white boat paint. Tough stuff.
The top half is stripped.
The bottom is a pretty stark white compared to the stripped part.
I realize that gelcoat yellows a bit but I remember the late 60 Glastron that my dad had was fairly "Tan". Then they got "whiter".
I was wondering what color might be closest to the gel. Cant go by the paint cards - on the internet anyways.
Maybe someone has has an experience with matching a 2 part?

Got all my color cards.
Decided to go with Quantum's 1010 Off White.
Very close to a sanded portion of the original Gel Coat.

Day late and a dollar short, but if you are painting, I had my Auto Value person come down with their paint picture gun and he took 3 readings and came up with a color and it matched dead nuts !

Yep I'm committed.
Had a boat flipping party. I'm filling cracks and sanding.
Epoxy Primer soon...
