Ok, it will take me a while to sift through the 186 pictures amy took today but here's a few.

Looks like someone cleaned his hull.

I remembered something Jim said at dinner today.. bad things always come in threes.  Can we count Shawn's second flat of the day the third bad thing, and hope that we're past this particular stretch of bad luck?  Had a great time today, thanks everyone!

Seven boats launched from Colvill Park just south of the City of Red Wing at about 11 AM. Light chop from Red Wing to The lock and dam at Alma with the Lake smooth but rolling on the way back. Stopped for lunch on the way down just where Lake Pepin narrows into a river again - the spot were my wife Joy and would camp 38 years ago, but now filled in with the high sand dunes from river dredging.

About 75 miles in total. Hit 52.9 MPH with two in the boat and 12 gallons of gas.

Gosh that looks like it was a fun day.  Great pictures of all the boats, and the landscape with the trees just starting to turn is beautiful.

Looks like a great time, I'm jealous I missed it. You guys had perfect weather.  Love the nice sandy beach you pulled up on. Definitely try to make it next year.

Hey Jeff,
Remember how you mentioned how often I see Lake Pepin as calm as it was  last weekend, well, I just past Pepin on my why to Winona. Total white caps. I saw one boat out there, a large walleye boat, probably a ranger. He was in the air a much as the water and it looked like he had a long way to go. Here are a few pics.  If you look close you might be able to see the lone boat.

I have idled through white caps the entire 23 miles of Lake Pepin in the Glastron V-153 trying to get back home for work the next day from a 3 day camping trip from Wabasha to Stillwater with my wife. The tip off of a windy day were the leaves russeling in the trees as you woke up. Even at idling, waves would crash over the deck, up the windshield, and onto our laps.  Then there were the heavy rains (had a canvas top) and lightning strikes. Wish I had pictures. Lived to tell the story.

Last weekend was a picnic.

When we came up for the meet in August there were big white caps on Lake Pepin.  They seemed to be bigger on the south end? If I remember right, the wind was coming from the North.

An interesting place to visit is the Goodhue County Museum in Red Wing. Among other interesting things, such as the past industries in Red Wing, are the sudden storms on Lake Pepin and the resulting deaths. Dangerous lake because it is so shallow.
