I ran up to Lake Lanier this morning to pick up a 135HP Johnson (running) from C/L, to power the new project boat. Low and behold it's still bolted to a 1974 V-173 in better shape than my project boat SSV! I couldn't just leave her sitting there, she looked so lonely.
Now I'm thinking I'd rather do the Bayflite. Decisions, decisions......

Mark, that isn't your boat that I saw last Sunday, is it? Lol
I may need to come back down to look at that one:)...looks good! does it have the open bow seating?

Mark rebuild the bayflite its reminding you too much of your old starflite. ;D

Can you hide it in the back yard until you get the 1974 V-173 done ?
Two free boat could put you in the poor house ... LOL

Personally I prefer a closed bow ...

I thought you were going for more elbow room/family boat? If so, the open bow will serve you better...

Decided yet Mark?... I agree with Doran, the open bow will give you a little more elbow room. Both are great looking boats though.

Not definite yet, but I'm still leaning toward the Bayflite. The "elbow room" issue will be over by the time it's done, one grand daughter graduating this year and the other graduates next year. I think my own personal tastes run more along the closed bow lines, and that hull is in much better shape. Just a few blisters to deal with, where the SSV hull looks like a teenager who doesn't wash their face! (I think both boats were left in the water during the season down here, just a hunch.)
The SSV is on C/L just to see what happens, but it can reside (covered up) in the back yard for now. I hope to get the Bayflite moved to the better trailer and into the garage today, we'll see how it goes. I kind of over did the physical exertion yesterday, and paid the price last night. Gotta take it slow and easy, I'm in this for the long run! ;)

Decisions, decisions...just don't over do yourself, I'm just 20 minutes form you, and if u need help at some point, let me know.
Now I like the close bows also, gives the boat more of a performance look, just IMO..
but for fishing, the close bow will not be the best choice, but doable, as you you... heck I haven't fished in so long, I think I for got how to do it...Lol
The main thing is you going to do it right, with which ever boat you choose:)

Best to do the easier of the two (Bayflite) ...
Once you get going on something it's hard to slow down, but take it easy Mark, ya got all winter !

That sure was a pretty boat Jason! Upon further inspection of the V-173 hull, I don't think it's in much better shape than the SSV. Call me crazy, but I'm considering building the SSV hull, and using the bow off the Bayflite to make a removable "convertible" panel like the CVZ's? The beam width is only 1/2" different between the two, might require some fabricaiton but wouldn't that be cool - the best of both worlds?

That's why I like my CVZ w/Bow Cover. (Wish it was a CVZ-21 sometimes though...)
