Title: Anyone in the north metro planing on getting their boat wet ?
Post by: thedeuceman on May 10, 2013, 03:03:26 PM
I think it's done, I am hoping to put it in the lake near my house this evening.
But I was wondering if anyone else is going to be testing their boat tonight or tomorrow somewhere nearby I would be willing to meet.

Need to get the War dept to help clean up the garage now. I got that from someone else's post.
The color scheme looks great.  115 hp?  The SST 19's rev out well with a good hole shot.

Gregg, I had good luck with indoor/outdoor carpet tape last year. And I will say it was a pain pulling up the carpet last fall.

My carpet would have to go up side of hull, think it would work (Tape) ?
Seat bases hold it down in middle of floor and is stapled under deck to rub rail wood strip ...

The tape actually holds going up the sides also. What i did with the tape is I outlined all of the edges of the main floor. put an X across the floor from one corner to the other. then i ran a strip down the middle of the of the gunnel under the gunnel side storage. Then I took a heavy roller and rolled it down each piece of tape after the carpet was laid down. It took quite a bit of effort to pull it up. I will be putting down that tape again this week, I will post some pictures before I lay down the carpet.

That tape sounds interesting though. Probably a lot easier (and less smelly) then the glue.

yes it is. also you don't have to grind off all of the old glue when you tear the carpet up.

Henrys brand is good.  They have some at Menard's.  Call a carpet supply distributor. When I did my pontoon carpet I got it from Bass Pro Shops.  It bubbled like crazy.  I asked for a refund and they gave it reluctantly.  I was able to salvage the carpet.  They would have replaced it.  Of course nobody else had a problem.  I tried to shoot glue in the bubbles with a syringe for 48 hrs.  Finally gave up.  The Henry's #263 outdoor carpet adhesive worked fine.  Just went out to my shop to check.  I still have the can.
