Is there a name for that propulsion system? Seriously. Knew they made some jet drive OB motors. Ain't never seen one quite like that.

It's called a turbo jet. Not sure who makes it though.. They were installed on four winns boats from 92- 98 from what I've found so far.  Came with a 90hp or 115hp omc power head, although the one I have looks to have a 130 power head with vro oil pump on them. That's what was on mine and failed causing the meltdown so I'm removing that and will just burn mixed gas. Speedo goes up to 50, so I'm hopeing something like that, but??  The gt is smaller and will be a lot lighter then the four winns, so it should be fun..

Was in the "zone" all day and forgot to take pictures of the new stringers.... Instead of just using a 1x6  stringer down the center and two 1x2 on the sides I made them out of a 2x6 and 2x2 they fit real nice in the channels and are all glassed in. Painted the down side and edges of the plywood with marine paint to seal them and now have to glass all the rest in..

The exhaust goes through that "tank" and then loops back down one of the big tubes you see in pict. Than through the get.    How ever... I've not had any one explain to me why that other hose that is caped, is used for?   It tee's off the exhaust, than is caped up high.

Floor all glassed in, ski locker back in, any bare wood sealed with marine paint.. not sure if the little gt can handle a fuel tank up front, but I had one and it fit nice so I'll give it a try. I can always use outboard tanks later.

The TurboJet is listed at 250 lbs. about the same weight as a 3 cyl. 60 - 75 HP Johnson / Evinrude  motor.
Pretty sure other GT's have bow mounted fuel tanks with the heavier V4 90 - 115 Johnson / Evinrude motors.

Time to flip it over and start having fun on the down side... Now you can see how the jet fit into the hull.   All edges within 1/4" so it should grind down, glass in and fill in nice.

Not sure how picky your going to be but I have some pretty long sanding blocks and a couple air files. If you wanted to borrow them.
I think this has become an addiction.

Think I'd take Shawn up on that. And focus on the leading edge of your 'graft'. Gonna have to somehow blend the original 'keel' into the 'pad' on the pump?

Per the info Gregg posted the pad should extend at least 18" fwd of the intake. Looks like you're close?

Some interesting stuff in the info Gregg provided. Check out "Turbojet Boat Design Considerations" in particular.

Thanks for the offer Shawn,  but I've been cutting corvettes apart and putting them back together for years so I have most everything I need.   And the flat part before the intake is almost 23" so it should be good also.

Not sure if Tim, Makinwaves, has any photos of the tank we built for his gt.  It is a cut down Larsen alum tank, and the filler is under the GT badge.  Actually adds some decent balance.  So I think you will be happy with a tank up front.

60% of the weight aft, 40% fwd. Per Turbo Jet.
