V178 Startflite Parts
« on: November 02, 2010, 11:50:54 AM »
Anyone need any parts for a V178 Starflite?  Not real sure of the year yet but I am going to pick it up and part it out I think.  It is local here in Phoenix and looks to have a good trailer and most all the original hardware and such.  Bad floor and no engine.  Main intent is to part it out but if anyone is interested in the boat let me know.  I imagine it would be a fairly indepth rebuild needing stringers and floor at the very least.  No interior to speak of.

Hey Chris, that's looks the same as my 1973 V178!  If the center windshield door hinge is any good, I sure could use that.  Other than that, the curtain over the bilge area is the only thing mine is missing.

Well, that and the babe laying in the lounge seat, but my wife probably won't go for that "accessory"!! :D

I'd like dibs on the cleats if they're okay. Transom lifting eyes too.

As soon as I can get it picked up I'll let you know what is what.  I imagine the cleats and eyes should be OK.  Windshield hinge?   That is nylon isn't it? That may or may not be OK.  Looking at the pictures the transom curtain looks to be there but after being in AZ for a while ... well we'll see.

The rope guides are tempting.  Not really the right style for my Saberflite but would be better than none at all.  as it is I only have cleats on one side!

I also have a bow light, fuel cap assy, & fuel vent if anyone needs it.

This stuff is off a early 70's boat that got cannibalized about 4 years ago.

I went to pick up the V178 today and it was already gone.  Seems his wife and he were not on the same page.  They both sold it!!!  I got there second! ... bummer.

Mark,

Your buddy John can have anything he needs.
Chris has first chance on the rope guides as both he and Rich are good contributers to the form.
I do not want any money for the parts as long aa they go on a personal boat & not resold.
A small donation the the 'Bergstrom Baby Fund' is always welcome.

I just found a set off a 62 boat that will match what I need.  Thanks for the 1st choice but looks like U can offer them to someone else.  Anyone have family in Oregon coming south for the winter?  the Same guy has the Tilt Air windshield I want.  Shipping is a killer though!!!

I just ordered some 1/2" aluminum rub rail from Ft Lauderdale for my Classic Barracuda. $170 for the 3 pieces (12' long) and $140 to ship it here.

Thanks Jim, he's got a 59 or 60 Cutter Jet de Ville he's bringing back for his own personal boat.  He's always helping folks out, thought I'd do something nice for him for a change.  I'll have him shoot you an email, is the one in your profile good?    Thanks!
