Title: Recommendations for CVX-18 fuel sending unit & install
Post by: Villager19 on August 08, 2021, 09:23:23 PM
Hi everybody!

I'm looking for recommendations on a fuel sending unit for my 1979 CVX-18.

Where's what's in there now, Seachoice 15421: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0010VA1ES (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0010VA1ES)

But I've seen awesome reviews on this one from KUS: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y831R2K/ (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y831R2K/)

Thoughts/comments on the two different styles are appreciated. Is something better out there?

There seems to be enough space under the deck, so I'm not planning on taking the fuel tank out or removing the deck to replace this part. If anybody gas done this before, is there enough space to install the KUS sending unit without pulling the tank out? I am kind of leaning towards the KUS product.

Last question - do I need any sort of silicone or other sealant? It seems to me that the gasket alone should be sufficient.

If I remember right ...
John got a "KUS" or that style and need to add a resister or something to get his gas gauges to work.
He had his fuel tank removed for rebuild, so not sure if you can get it in with tank under deck.
