Fall Mini-Meet?
« on: September 02, 2013, 08:22:38 PM »
I need to put some 'on the water' time on Goldie...anyone up for playing hookie and meeting at Red Rock?  I'd like to wait for it to cool down, so later in the month possibly?

When you thinking Doran? I would pull Phoenix Rising the four hours for a good day of running.

Really?  Cool, that'd be great!  Hmm...a couple of weeks?  I need to check the family calendar, but let me know if there are dates that don't work for you.

The weekends of the 14th or the 28th would work for us.

Actually amber's preference would be the 28th but ether should work.

Ok.  *Maybe* we could meet at Lake Icaria (Corning, IA).  Never been there, smaller lake, but is 1 1/2 hrs closer for you...

Just looked at the Iowa dnr web site it says outboards only no inboards. Let's just plan on red rock that's a doable day trip for us.

I think you might have misread...but Lake Red Rock is perfect, that works!

County: Adams
Location: 4 miles north of Corning
Acres: 648.00
Maximum Depth:
Motoring Restrictions: No jet boats or jet skies allowed. Outboard and inboard-outboards only, no inboards.

I might be able to do the 28th. The 15th is a no go for me. We could probably do some grilling at my place also if you do Red Rock since I live close enough I could here the jet ski's over there on labor day...

I have a hand full of props I've been wanting to try out as well, but really haven't gotten the chance to yet.

Edit: Just looked closer at the calender. The 21st actually works the best for me, but I can make the 28th work in the afternoon.

I'm nearby - that goes without saying - ...
Once a day is nailed down, I'll see if I can make it.  I enrolled in school for some post-bac classes this term, so weekdays tend to look really busy, and weekends used for making up the stuff I put off during the week.  Pick a day, I'll do my best to be there.  It will be my last day of the year on the water, too.

I wondered...its a 10 hr round trip (minimum), and that's a long & expensive day of boating...

Yep, but it would have sure been fun!!!!

Edit...Plus I might have found a complete power steering setup for Phoenix Rising. So that might be where the money is going... maybe?

Still want to go out sometime if you still have your boat Doran? I've literally got a half dozen props to try out now to find one I like now that I've got some more power to play with and the boats only been out 3 times this year so far... are you available the 2nd week of October and later?

I'm sure I'll still have Goldie.  2nd Week of October doesn't work, but yeah, I want to get Goldie out one more time, and would prefer a tow boat be present just in case...

FYI Red Rock is still open. Tried out the 4 blade 22 pitch Stiletto prop I got from Terry this afternoon... I think it will be a keeper. I still need to try out the 25 pitch Ballistic I got from him too, but I'm going to have to modify the tab for clearance before I can run it.

Here's a video Jess took. Full tank of fuel and two adults. RPM's were about 4600.

Nice, Kurtis.  The state park and marina ramps are still open down here at Rathbun.  All the ACOE ramps are closed, though.
