Where to order a prop??
« on: January 24, 2022, 06:30:26 PM »
I'm looking a new prop, does anyone have any recommendations on a place that will help with picking out the best choice. I have never bought a new prop before so I'de like some help from someone knowledgeable and trustworthy. Thanks...

Where are you located ?

What prop is on it now ?
What is the RPM and speed with that prop ?

Some prop shops and boat dealers have "Test props" ..

Brand new props are very expensive , like $600 and more.
You could get a few used one's for that and sell the one's that didn't work.
It's very hard to say which prop will work best .. until you try it ..
Testing is the only way to be sure your getting the one that works best for you.

I was hoping A prop dealer could just take my info and give me the best bang for the buck, price isnt that much of an issue, just want to do it once. Its an 81 Ski machine 20' with a 2 stroke 200 hp Yamaha. Would like a good all around stainless prop, but leaning more to top end..

Boat is in Waskish Mn. I'm guessing the prop is what came on it stock, it was on when I got it a few months ago. Its at my cabin so I cant get any numbers till I go up there again.

Dont know the speed or rpm, the gauges have been replaced so i have no faith in them. specs on the motor say its 5500 rpm. By the way I'm looking for a set of original gauges if anyone knows of a set..

If your tach is a Yamaha, it should be OK.
A GPS speedo would be most accurate.
