Well i had two Glastrons, one was a 1967 Bayflite Super Sport V-163. and now i have a 1981 Carlson C-500. both share the 1976 Evinrude 115 and i am trying to partially restore my C-500. I love the C-500 its the best boat ive owned and riden in. I dont think im ever gonna get rid of it unless something really bad happens to the hull.

I sold my 1976 GT-150 and here I am in my "new" 1983 SSV-151 with Mercury 1150 power and another picture with my boat and tow vehicle, a 2014 VW Jetta TDI. 45+mpg empty, 31+mpg with boat. Love it. I may be able to afford boating this year

My 1980 SSV167 with Mariner 90, just went out again today and had a blast zipping around for almost an hour.  Also my 1991 HydroSwift 2200 Cuddy with VP 570/DP, and my version of dry-stack...:

Well...

I'm Chris I'm 41, married and a father of 2 boys, 9 and 4, and we live in Waterford, Michigan. I've lived here pretty much my whole life. I got into boating because in April of 1969 my Dad decided to trade his BSA motorcycle in for a shiny new Glastron V156. We had that boat until last year. Well in June of '08 I thought it would be fun to look around for newer boats. After a few days I stumbled across a CVX16 on Craigslist for sale near my parents cottage. It didn't have a motor but it was in good shape and had a very nice trailer under the hull. I picked it up for $750. In the following few weeks I stumbled across my Johnson outboard on eBay and it was even somewhat local. I ended up being the opening and only bidder on it at $550. That's where we started off. In the following years she needed a lot of TLC. I spend most of that summer hanging the motor and burning out a 9" polishing wheel on her. Within a few years the floor started to get real soft so on St. Patty's day 2011 I removed the floor starting a 10 week overhaul of my '77. I ended up going a bit over my budget but in the end I think the results were worth it.

Hi,  my name is Tim and I'm a Glastronaholic.

When my wife Maggie aka Suckeredintoit asks me what I'm looking at on my phone, I tell her        p o r n. She knows I'm full of it, it is boats and she knows it.  Busted again......

Oh well, pictures of the new family and our family of boats.  My first- 1986 CVX-18, second-1980 Intimidator, and third- my dad's 1983 Intimidator.

Clearwater, MN

My wife, Karen, and I have lived on a small lake in rural central Minnesota for the last 22 years.  Our kids are grown and we are empty nesters at the moment, and enjoying it greatly.  For many years I ran a much newer I/O powerboat and enjoyed it immensely.  Pulling kids in tubes is the last "socially acceptable" form of child abuse.  (I say that tongue and cheek of course, as I have never hurt a rider.)  The newer I/O had been used very little the last few years, and then last summer . . . a neighbor picked up an old Glastron with a 90hp on it and he would skim right by my dock with his hand in the water.  That is when I started thinking, and looking.  The next normal progression for boats was a pontoon; like the rest of you, I chose a different path.

It was a diamond in the rough when I picked it up this spring: Needed a new floor, wiring needed to be cleaned up, and a lot of other minor items normally found on a boat that has not had routine maintenance.  But yet the interior vinyl is original and spotless, and the gelcoat is original as well.  And the engine, I believe, is original to the boat.  (A neighbor says it looks like I have an old refrigerator on the back of the boat. :) )

I call it a 1972.5 because it as manufactured in November of 1972 (back side under dash decal, under clear resin).  The hull is stamped 1972 but the color and interior is 1973 all the way.

One thing I have learned from doing other restoration projects is "one never gets quite finished with the restore"  That is, if you want to use it, and I do like to use it.  It is a show stopper among all.

Jerry and Dottie Gilkeson
We have been married almost 50 years,

Three Daughters, 5 Grandsons, and 1 Granddaughter.

Over 50 years we have been involved with many things CB Radio, Ham Radio I’m N0AFH, Dottie is N0BUA, Drag racing in the 60s and 70s

Our passion is politics. Dottie is a member of the DFL Woman’s Hall of Fame, and we have worked on many campaigns.

Many Street Machines., and now we have a 48 Plymouth, and 68 Impala

In the mid 90s we got our first boat, a 1963 Glasspar Seafair Sunliner, it had a Buick V6 and munci gearworks, outdrive.

I’m going to put a GM (OMC stringer Mount 3800) in it While I was trying to get info on the Glasspar I found out people actually rebuilt old boats and showed them, So we went looking and found a 1958 Glastron Fireflite. It was in Grand Merias, It was $350 and came wit trees.

Did a little paint (lace) and a new motor and - - -

We got involved with the CGOA sight, and in the late 90s we started the CGOAMN Group and having meets. Big Sandy – ’99, 2000. Lake Marion 2002.

2 years at Little Falls

We have had several boats we have sold. A 57 Larson All American That was in the Cohen Bros Movie “a serious man”

In Dec 2003 we went to California and picked up a ’59 Classic Barricuda (it was free)

I got side tracked but I.m working on it again.

I picked up a ’63 Winner for a fishing boat and to tow the kids around with. (free again)

Then in 2011 Ol’ Red had a GT160 he had started on and said I could have it if we came to Oklahoma City and picked it up. (yep free) Had to do a little work on it.

Well that’s the short story of Me and my Boat
