Morning all!

Been awhile since I’ve posted but it’s summer and if I’m not working I’m boating 😂

We parted with our Vagabond Camper a few months ago, and have just felt a hole in our hearts.. Well... we finally got another friend for our C512, picked up this 1988 CVX18 for dirt cheap. Has the 5.7L V8. Needs some cosmetic love but structurally and mechanically sound! Just have to diagnose and fix the ignition (fairly confident the coil failed based on our thunderbolt tests).

Definitely excited to polish it up and get it on the water! Somewhat anxious as we’ve never owned a boat that goes this fast lol. Perhaps next year we can finally bring them both up to the meet!

Congratulations on your new arrival, always nice to see a growing Glastron family.   There usually are plenty of 18's at the meet to keep it company as well, live to see it there next year.  The thunderbolt ignition is generally quite reliable, but coil failures do occur.  Just be certain to match the coil to the ignition box.  Sometimes we get wrapped up in the snake oil about high energy coils, and end up selecting one with too low an input impedance, which can damage the ignition box.  Just ask how I know this, uuggghhhh.

At some point someone had installed a fishing seat and trolling motor  >:( not much I can do about it now :/

And I ordered the coil suggested by multiple marine parts websites so hopefully they didn't steer me wrong!

The coil had a crack and started seeping oil during our testing, so hopefully that is the issue. I replaced the switch first, and coil was next in line based on the testing.

Pretty happy for a $900 boat! Now to clean the hell out of it and start planning a new interior as a winter project.
