1976 V-174 wiring diagram
« on: September 27, 2019, 09:28:03 AM »
Hi folks,
does anybody have a wiring diagram for 1976 V-174 with Volvo Penta 130 hp engine?
Motor wiring is fine but cockpit wiring is a mess - half of the instruments and signal lamps not working.
I was looking all around the net but couldn't find any help.
Thx and cheers

The 1979 Glastron owners manual has a basic wiring diagram for the I/O's.
 https://www.glastron.com/uploads/2017/3/Glastron-Manual-70s-IO.pdf

There's one in the 1985 manual also.

All manuals.

Thx Greg, these diagrams help.
Still the details on cockpit wiring are not really shown.
I've got 4 switches with 4 control lamps on each cockpit side.
Maybe you can help me with some information

Left side:
Horn switch - what is the control lamp for? doesn't really make sense, when the horn sounds no need for status lamp, or is there any other explanation?
Acc. switch - for what accesory typically used?
Tilt switch - when should the tilt caution lamp light-up? where is the sensor for this lamp?
Blower switch - lamp lites up when blower on.

Right side:
Nav./Anchor Lights switch (2 positions) - Navigation lights is bow and stern light, right? Anchor light is what? just stern light?
Panel Lights switch - what is the control lamp for? doesn't really make sense, when the panel lights are on its obvious, no need for status lamp.
Bilge pump switch - lamp lites up when pump is on.
Acc. switch - for what accesory typically used?

Appreciate your answers and hints.

Horn switch .. No idea why it would have a light ?

Acc. switch .. Could be for Bow spot light, Fish finder, etc.

Tilt switch .. Rich answered here .. http://forum.cgoamn.com/index.php?topic=7039.msg103383#msg103383
You can still get owners manuals from Volvo/ Penta on there web site.

Nav. / Anchor light .. Nav. is bow and stern & anchor is just stern light.

Panel light switch .. No idea why you would need a light here, maybe just to make control panel look symmetrical or used for other switches on different models.

Thx again Gregg.
I remember Rich's earlier post.
Only I cannot find the tilt caution sensor. Will have to keep on searchin.
Web site Volvo Penta very helpful - lot of downloads.
By the way: found that horn, panel lites and nav/anchor lites control lamps are just dummies.
From front look like lamps but have no bulb holders ...
