dorelse,

Makes sense now that I see that there are no hard edges on the pad. AND the inner strakes don't go completely to the stern....

You can "fall off" a raised sharp pad. Better have a good steering system. If not, that's when you get Violent chine walk vs
Stern Wobble"

Like Plugcheck said earlier, Just running the strakes back ad sharpening the edges might be the best improvement.

Great stuff Hyperacme.

Tom Brown's comments are very interesting - These are all in relation to speed though.

" I modified the pad and inner strakes quite a bit. What I learned is that I should not have modified it. There are benefits but not significantly so. "

I wonder what those benefits would be? "Not significantly so" - for handling or in relation to speed?

"If you extend the inner strakes to the back, the extensions will be extremely difficult to get to stay on. Just look at the cracking behind the inner strakes you have now. All CVX-16 hulls are cracked there. There is a lot of flex in that region, particularly in your case with a really heavy engine and then another heavy lump of jack plate. Oh yes... 150hp e-tec. Nice engine. Good power. Pretty heavy for a CVX-16 but not the worst I've seen. "

I went out and looked and see that the inner strakes are about where the Bilge starts above. Seems that the Knees that have been added would help a lot in that area.
I've added about an inch or more thickness in the bottom of the bilge with Epoxy and Kitty Hair when I fixed my transom. (I'll insert a link when I post it.) I was surprised at how thin the Keel to Transom transition was.

Again my goal is a more stable ski toy.

Why not just go get a ski boat? Not as  8) as a Glastron / Carlson !

Admittedly the Ski Machine is a purpose built craft.  Plenty powerful, and flashy.   Not the easiest to find though.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would LOVE to find one of those!
The CV was dropped in my lap, so I have this feeling that I have to save it. The same reason I don't go near dog shelters.
