No Hardtop
« on: October 14, 2019, 06:04:42 PM »
First time running the boat without the hardtop. The hardtop looks cool, but so much easier operating & getting in/out without it. Also, finally got to use the "tilt" feature on the windshield. It really lets the air flow through.  It has multiple height settings.

Got some cool pics but many were still fuzzy... I need to get a better camera.  Thought you might like to see a few...

Looks great Mark, can't say the photos look bad, the running turn shot would make a nice calender photo contestant.

Thanks guys. Yes, plus and minuses with hardtop... on helps in summer keep the sun off but difficult to get in/out of front seats with very little room. It can get a little warm with no air.  It's a trade off, need something over your head in our Texas summer sun... it's brutal.
But, if it's not too hot I love the air flow and ease of use with it removed. Simple to remove with two windshield clamps then just slide off gunwale bracket (helps with a little silicone), but need a few people to do it. Not heavy, just awkward.

That's cool that it's easy to get on and off ..
A open bow makes things like docking, beaching and loading so much easier then a closed bow.
More options to get in and out.

That's a pretty fancy stern light !
Like a Jetson light, but different .. Is it original ?

How is the noise level with the hardtop in place?

Stern light is original. Has small screw down at base, loosen it and it telescopes up, then tighten it back down into place.

Open bow sure is handy for beach or docking like you say. This windshield will actually tilt all the way back behind you so you have access to the bow. We never do that as don't intent to try and climb/walk across it... doesn't appear to be that sturdy to me and don't want to damage anything. But can definitely grab things easier, ropes, etc.

Noise level... don't really notice much of a difference with or without the top on. Engine is ear shot away regardless and it's pretty open even with top on.

It does make it difficult to climb into drivers or passengers seat... you have to kind of crawl in and out. I try not to ever put a knee or hand directly/firmly down into the original upholstery. It's decently pliable, and I condition it all the time, but I think would be easy to pop a seam if not careful. Heck its 57 years old. We use seat cushions and I give instructions for anyone that goes with us what they should/should not do.   lol
