Just make sure it's no more than a 7 lb pump. Most pumps today are for FI and run 40 lbs.

Both of mine are running low pressure electic fuel pumps and neither one has a fuel starvation issue with the 650 Edelbrock carbs.   We put one of those red Holley pumps on Hot Knots, no problems and it looks good in the bilge next to that little red engine.

I didn't know they dent carry them in stock. I just know that overnight shipping is
very costly. Just an FYI, if you can use UPS, they have an option that will save you a few bucks and that's for delivery by 3pm.  And to have it shipped to a business instead of a house address helps also.

Jeff screwed the idle adjustment screws in all the way and we found out they were out about 4 turns. Brought them out 1 1/2 as a starting point and it was bogging when I tried to accelerate. Turned them out another 1/2 turn I believe but by that time, it was getting harder to even get to start. It is coming to the meet no matter what.
Thanks to all that helped out.

The idle adjustment screws are for just that, to help during idle only.  Once you start to open the throttle up, they are pretty much non-functional because another circuit takes over and as vacuum increases more, the main venturi discharge gas.  So by turning in the idle adjustment screws, that might be why it was getting harder to start? unless you were opening up the throttle, just a guess.  As far as the bogging goes, that sounds like an accelerator pump issue, and I'm aware you just had it rebuilt, the float could still be too high or too low.

So any kind of "adjustments" over and above idling is all internal.

I had a thought last night when looking through the instructions for the new pump.
When I read "a fuel pump is made to pump fuel to the carb, not pull it from the tank" it says its all gravity to me. I wonder if I could have the Racor filter mounted too high? If its higher than the tank that could be a problem? Maybe it is causing fuel starvation?
Thoughts?
I put it where I did for convenience. Nothing else to mount it to.

That is a true statement about the pump, but if the entire line runs at that level I don't think it's going to make a lot of difference to lower the filter

Low pressure pumps pull better than push and high pressure is the opposite. Not sure why. I would just put it somewhere between the separator and carb. I don't think having the separator that high would matter.

Just like in a car, once the fuel is in the line it create a siphon, as long as the pump below the fuel tank You should be good

Correct.  And internally, other than float adjustment, there isn't much that can be done without parts replacement and or machining/drilling.

The Racor is designed to work best on the "suction" side of the pump Ross, your mounting looks good!

Ross the way my luck is going me and you can sit on the dock and wave at everyone together.  Maybe I will just bring a couple tubes and we can float down and hopefully ride back with someone.

Doesn't sound all that bad Shawn. At least I could quit working on this thing.

Hopefully that won't be necessary  Ross.  I hope the new fuel pump solves your problems.

We went to the Dakota County Fair tonight to watch Jason crash n burn. I saw Jason, but his car was a no-show. Still had a good time. First time at a Demo Derby.

There was the crash

and Burn

Garden tractors? Cool Seems like there could be damage to legs. Not cool.
I wanted to make it there this year but I had other priorities unfortunately.

Sorry Jerry. Yea, the Big SUV's and Astro's would have pummeled me in my Voyager. I decided to not break myself! next year there will be a FWD minivan class which will be a much better fit for my mangled van. I have never bailed on a race but after seeing what was running Friday night (astro's modified with small blocks and Durangos with one ton truck rear ends) I knew it was the smartest thing to do.

My brother did good in his explorer. I think you saw a great show. Drivers were actually hitting in all classes. Sometimes they can be pretty boring.
