The Fest takes place Friday, July 29, 5 - 9 pm. We are hoping that a number of Glastron boats (10?15?) - vintage if possible - could parade past/around on the river between the bridges as the Fest-goers view the activities from the riverbank. This should happen during a set period of time; perhaps 6 - 7 or 7:30, or whatever would work best for your boaters. Providing boat rides for Fest-goers is not expected nor encouraged; the liability is too complicated.
The Riverfront Fest is an annual summer festival celebrating the Mississippi River and summer in the city. This year the Fest takes place on Friday July 29 along West River Parkway between the Plymouth and Broadway bridges, just above Boom Island. The Fest involves music (live bands), exhibits promoting recreational river use, biking, water quality, activities for kids, food trucks, craft beers.
Here's more information about the Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership, the primary sponsor of this Fest along with the City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board:
http://www.minneapolisriverfront.org/Boats will launch and stage from boom island ramp and docks at 6:00 and parade on to the water at 6:30. Parking in the boom Island launch site or at the lumberyard across the street.
I would like to make a slow parade up one side and down the other with our banner displayed. Then were free to run the river until 7:30 or so.
