I wonder what the SS meant on the CVX's. Or did it stick around for a few years on all models and then go away? Jeff's CVX18 does not say SS when When the Bishops CVX16 does. Why couldn't Glastron just stick to their own rules? Darn marketers!

Actually the OB CVX16 wasn't called an SS until it was brought back in '82. They didn't bring back the I/O version.

However, until the CVX series was discontinued due to the release of the metric series, with the 16' models the "SS" designation always meant it was an I/O.

The CVX18 was only built with an I/O hence the lack of "SS". When I had my '83 I always thought it was weird that it said "SS" on the bow and I have no clue why they did that. Of course I don't know why they brought back a discontinued boat versus trying to fix what was wrong w/Metric series. IMHO they were a definite step forward.

Haha, that would be me. Good to see another 4-stringer in the club. We have a pre-amp hooked in through the CVX16's stereo for jamming on the lake. You'll have to try it out at the August meet.

I am starting to think Glastron was purposely putting these messed up images in their ads just to see if anyone would catch it. Wonder what the marketing guy was smoking in the early 70's!

I noticed that too. Glastron knew there would adventually be a club looking into every little detail of their boats and wanted to give us something to really scratch our heads about. We need to get Art Carlson on here so he can answer some of these VERY important questions!

That's a 1979 CVX-16SS OMC. Really weird about the decals. I wonder if that was a mix up by the vinyl designer?
