1 Boat Rule Broken
« on: May 10, 2015, 11:43:44 PM »
Well, I went and broke the 1 boat rule.

Its not a brand we talk about here, but there's a method to the madness.  I've talked about this before, I wanted a larger boat, and stumbled across a rare 1 year only 24' Bowrider for sale locally.  Needs some love, but nothing too serious I hope.  Really a boat design ahead of its time...anyway.

I will have the need to get to an outboard boat, with the 24' ft being used as an all day cruiser for the family to spend the day at the lake on...with a GX-150 for reaching the shallow areas of our new home lake for fun & fishing, etc.  Seats 10-12, 2 tables, Bimini, sunpad, swim platform...downside is an older Volvo Penta outdrive.

My wife is very happy with the new vessel, thinks I've "finally got a boat she'll like".

So...bow cover is going to Brandon.  I know he'll appreciate owning it.

Goldie is available, $2500 / OBO with the known tank issues.  I do plan on getting it running with Joe's tank installed temporarily.  If it doesn't sell, so be it, but I feel really good about this one.  If Goldie stays, she stays, its at a place where it can safely sit for a bit if need be.

That's cool !
If I post the picture of your new boat, we could split the one week ban, three and a half days for me and three and a half days you ... LOL

Any pictures of interior ?
Sounds like it's set up like a Sea Ray Amberjack with an open bow.

Speedytank quote came back today at $500 (incl shipping) for the replacement tank.  Nice price.

Yes, its set up like an Amberjack Gregg...never heard of that model before.

Like everything, it needs a bit of work.

It'll be on Lake Sundown in Southern IA.  (Right next to Lake Rathbun, Joe.)  It has a 'main' lake, and then some other shallow areas great for fishing.  Looked at the CV-23's, but we ultimately want seating room to have another family on the boat, etc.

I was so involved in checking it out, that I didn't even take photos...its not much to look at anyway, typical white blob.  Again, IF the CVZ-18 sells, it sells, if not, no problem.

That is a great price! If you have a quote number email it to me sometime please. I am cleaning up my shop this week and hope to pressure test my tank towards the end of the week.

That's just their 1st estimate...I need to send a couple of changes...2 baffles (instead of the quoted 1), 2 vents (fore & aft) and then going to see if they can do anything about our tapered tank...if not, so be it...but I do expect the $ to rise...I'll let you know.

What is the condition and price.  Yes, I would be interested in buying a set of windshields, it would save time over the custom ones I want to build.

They're in good condition,  no damage.   One needs cleaning,  but they're both in good shape.

They owe me $400.

Yeah, Gregg's being nice.

So, I'm in Mankato tonight picking up the boat.  My Mom doesn't know about the new girl, keeps saying that I can store it here for as long as I like, and how much Dad liked talking about it, seeing it.

Such a hard thing to let go of, ya know?

Going with Plan B for now.  We'll see how things go with 2 boats for the summer.

I really should see how much work the big girl is going to be before ditching Goldie.

Keeping the bow cover and windshields, will order a new tank soon as well... what the hell...

After seeing her (Mom and boat),  I think I'd ultimately regret it... we'll see.
