Toasted Glastron
« on: February 14, 2016, 07:24:44 AM »
My nephews (not2worried) Glastron got crispy when his grandfathers pole barn burned recently.
It was a SSV 115 merc.
Hope he gets another.

I only had basic liability on it. Not sure what's going to happen on that end. Motor I have not touch, it's questionable at best.

Sorry to hear, but that was a lucky boat- she got to age gracefully.  While most of the boats of that vintage were long since retired yours hauled a growing family around the lake again and again.

Hopefully you can recover something from the insurance company to help towards your next family memory maker.

Was it determined what caused the fire?  Seems the news is always full of fires during the winter, wondering if it were heating system related?   Hopefully the homeowners insurance will cover it under the building or contents portion?

I believe it may have been related to a heater/furnace. No more details then that at this time.

That hurts. I remember when a friends almost done CV23 project burned with all the parts. Nothing left of it, everything melted.
At least your swim ladder might be of use to someone.

Very sorry for your loss..  Fires suck :-[  It happened to a friend of mine as well a few years back.  All that's left of a cvx16 with a 175 Mariner >:(

Looks decent for the price. I think he wants to go a little bigger. The girls are growing.

Not wanting to hijack-  My buddy lost his boat/ motor, another 175 on a stand, a couple quads, and his kid raced dirtbikes.  Lost a couple race ready dirtbikes and all the gear.  He was renting the shop- no insurance.  Fire was electrical.

Wow! Not much left. Who would have thought the stuff you mentioned would have burned like that. Mostly metal!

Well I suppose there is gas to burn, so there is that. Makes me glad my barn is all steel. Only wood is stored wood and the stuff in boats.

Thoughts on what to do with this. Any value in motor or trailer? And where to dump the boat itself?
