I replaced the original Steel Tempo tank in my CV16SS with a poly one from Moeller about 13 years ago. It has that exact same sending unit in it and it works great.

A fuel sender that's not variable?  Not sure how that works.  The moeller unit seems like it would work, standard 33-240 ohms.   The wire from the fill point to the tank is grounding for safety.  Most new marine fuel filler hose has a wire built in.   Drains static charge off.
I put one in the Balharbour, it’s a sealed unit with eight reed switches in it and a network of resistors.
