The floor wasn?t terrible, but it was already in several pieces from the previous repairs and it?s pretty hard to save the floor so I just started over on that

I think I may have purchased the only boarding ladder for a CV 16 outboard in captivity

Could be a 1975 or 1976 CV16V8 ladder modded to fit ..
Good score !

Yeah, I looked at that and I was figuring I would make an extra copy of the V8 one to put on your old boat, but the way it mounts on the top is totally different.
The rise above, the stern trim is more vertical on the V8, then it is on the outboard and note that those couplers connect to the top instead of the back.
I do kind of assume it was made to fit. But It looks pretty nice.

Ya ... the way the stern is on the two, it would have to be different ..
All ya need now is a CV16SS with a four cylinder to have all three CV's   ...    ;)

Hello, great progress!
So what was the final assessment of "transom failure", was there a visible crack?  Was the boat taking on water?
Or was it just replaced as a preventative measure?

Looking forward to spring!

The transom was flexing quite a bit, you know the test where you have the trailer hooked to a car and you pushed down on the lower unit when the motor is tilted up, there was probably a inch of flex, you can see a couple small cracks on the top of the transom in the rebuild thread pictures Those were there from the first time the transom was replaced, but they got pretty wide when you push down on the motor. PO had it out on the water like that. He said it was pretty scary.

The flexing, and the test you mentioned are the same reason we decided to replace the transom on my CSS.
Hopefully we will be putting the cap back on soon!
