This video of an Allison Craft with an in-line Mercury. Don't know if it is the same hull as yours, but it sure is balanced.

What is that... about 3-4 gallons?

Doubt it's more than 3? Set up for drag racing. Actually have the aluminum rails that were stuck on to the bottom for that purpose, keepin it goin straight. (If'n ya look close you can see em in the early race pic.) Thankfully the screw holes were filled when the bottom was redone.

Very cool Dave. Thanks! Looks to be about the same hull.

Re stability. They did put different width pads on these. With difrent hooks and such. Mine's about the widest at 9 inches, and then some ...  This hull has been "blueprinted" and has what they call a finger hook on the very end of the pad. Like you were to lay your finger across it and glass it in. If'n ya had a 9" finger ...

Jerry Sellner from our Glastron group holds the world's record with an Allison boat traveling 86.772 MPH in a 1995 Allison XR-2001 powered by a 99.9 CI V-4 140 HP OMC. Darris Allison helped Jerry set the boat up for the record. Darris said he could add several MPH to the top speed if Jerry had time for Darris to fine tune it.

And some more of Jerry's boats.

I've heard that the finger on the back of the hull adds MPH's to the top speed - must be like a step that reduces the wetted area, but is tricky to handle the boat and some owners sand it off.

Congratulations on your new hot rod, please be safe.   Curious to know what makes the Allison's so fast, is the hull profile much different or is it simply because it is so light?

Allison have a narrow pad that the boat rides on. Accordingly, skill is necessary to keep it on the pad. The boats are years in designing, with test runs, back to hull modification, etc, until everything is right. Then use of quality materials - and no wood.

Another thing is, it's a purty deep vee. Lot deeper than the Baja or C500. Reckon the key is to balance it up on the pad. And don't come off!...

Funny, but now that I own this contraption. Everyone and anyone feels compelled to tell me their Allison horror stories ...?

Regardless. 'Fore I go to bed/pass out, I just wanted to say that I have the baddest effin tachometer outa any of y'all! Good night ...

Legend has it guy that raced it turned 10.5K on nitrous. We won't be testing that theory anytime soon ...

However the 'recall' feature is kinda nice.

Doug, what does the bottom of the hull look like?  Straight?  Scratch free? Sharp edges at chines and back?

Just dialed in and freshly painted. Looks great. Nice and sharp. Though I ain't real happy with the creamy 'pastel' color ...  Oh well, beggars cain't be choosers.

A good hull design and its condition means you can build the rest of the boat and not worry about the expense because you have a winner at the end of the project.

The bottom is perfect David. Never been in the water. I'll fix that ...

Just about got the string steering out. Seat out. Questionable area in the floor aft of the seat, under the fuel cell. Wasn't planning on that. Hope it ain't worse than it appears?

Only blemish below the rubrail are the holes from the string steering pulleys/u-bolts. Now I gotta figger out what to plug/cover em with.

Fwiw. More I analize this Allison hull. More I see what the lines of it are intended to do. Ain't near's purty as say a Glastron, or Carlson. But if'n ya stare at it long enough ya start to realize what the designers had in mind. All kinda curves converging here'n there'n what not.
