I'm really glad I bought and extra set...they're going straight to the bottom if the ever get dropped.

Find a washer that has a 1/4 hole. Cut a slot in the washer. Bend it just enough to thread it on the screw after installed. That should help hold those screws is so that they don't fall out. After you have it threaded on try and flatten the washer again. That should do the trick.

A 1/4" lock washer works good

She sure does!  One of the coolest parts (to me) is the "backlit" Carlson in the dash.  Great work all the way around, IMHO.    :P

OK guys just a little update. I have only have 6 sets of these hatch screws left. After these are gone I highly doubt I will have more made. If enough people start asking again about them. Then I might. Will probably not make extra though.

Also just thought I would share some of the locations in which these have been shipped to sofar.

Thought it was neat. Sold a set to a guy in Belgium, and as follows OH, KY, MN, IA, PA. Probably a couple other places also, but I didn't wright down all of them.

I don't want to step on any toes here, but I also work in a machine shop. I just asked my boss what he'd charge for these parts. He said about $5-$6 a piece if we ran at least 50. We just ran a part that was pretty much the same. We also have live tooling so we can put the slot on it as well.

Well that's cheap. I'll pass that part on for you to make then. No way my shop could make them that cheap. Unless we would start to run alot of them. You said yoy run parts like it already that helps. We are a small shop, but high quality. I dont think I'll even bother making more if you can get them done for cheaper.

We make medical stuff; like bone drills, bone taps, knee replacements, that kind of thing. We are a small shop too, and my boss is still stuck in the 80's, probably why the low price. If we had a sample part or a detailed drawing, I could start making them tonight.

I know with this first run that I did, some of the cost was just the programing alone. I spent a decent amount of time just measuring the original part and making a detailed print. So I think if I were to run another batch could have a better price. But I can't say for sure how much better.

Let me know if you plan to take over on this. as I will back down. and let you do the work.

I do the programming and setting up, I told the boss I'd do that on my time. That's why our price would be so much lower I'd guess.

I will pass along this thread to you. Your welcome to start making the screws. I know some ppl will be happier with the price. I have had ppl complain about how much they were. But I just don't think they realize the work involved, and that these are more of a custom part. Not you typical screw you can buy in the hardware store.

I'll either need some dimentions or a sample part to make them. Sorry I've been away from the site for a while. I'll check in more often.

still_fishin, I am willing to run another batch of hatch screws, but I need more interest to keep the cost down.  So till then you will be on the list. Keep an eye on this thread. I will update when I have more interest from here or elsewhere.
