CV16 HACKED HELM/DASH RE-HACKED
« on: September 20, 2019, 06:48:21 AM »
Here's my attempt at saving a really buggered up ABS Dash.
CV ABS Dashes are pretty flimsy to begin with so they have obvious weak spots and areas that are susceptible to damage.

Someone drilled a hole for a 2 1/4" guage with a blindfold on...
Fixing this part of the dash panel is what I'll start with.
Please chime in if you see anywhere or way to improve.

I was in a Pick-A-Part junkyard with a buddy trolling for some Relays from 90s BMWs (Bosch - The best). He was looking in a Porsche 924 for window regulator hardware.
Someone had scarfed the gauges out of the dash and left the bezel on the floor... Mmmm
Looks like it might work on the CV..
3 Bucks for a piece of plastic Nothing to lose. I like fooling with plastics and Dremels.

I'm using PLASTRUCT and Total Boat Flex Epox.
I've used the 2503 kit from these guys on Motorcycles and Snowmobiles> https://youtu.be/cD-w0nYp-A0

There are screw holes that I'll have to deal with.
I decided to reinforce the sides with some scrap ABS And I'll just put some stainless screws in. They won't really be structural.
Oh, by the way PLASTRUCK will bond all different kinds of plastic to each other and to everything else.
My brother was an Architect and he turned me on to it years ago. They use it for models of buildings.

So I started with the screw holes on top but I got my instruments the other day.
So it looks like the bezel fits better angle wise, with the screws on the bottom.

MEASURE TWICE GLUE ABS ONCE....
