Another Rescue
« on: June 16, 2012, 08:26:26 PM »
This is a 1980 SSV167 XL.........original owner still has it......bought new at J&W Marineland in Lake Elmo.........been my customer 30 years, last fall the transom gave way, Ya Mrs Retro and I are retired but I did this one as a favor........new transom in and I just finished putting the motor back on.  Anyone know if the XL means anything or were they all that in 1980? It feels good to save another one and really good to have had a customer for 30 years......nice boat and the original upholstery is still real good.

Good save Don !
In the 1979 brochure XL added some trim items, ladder, lockable storage, etc.
Kind of the delux model ...

Always good to hear a "feel good" story of another classic being saved instead of junked!

Thanks!
