Picked up a 79 hpv165 for a few hundred dollars it will need some work. I guess I?ll need guidance from fellow hpv owners regarding what the stock interior looks like and how to remove things.
Let the build begin I guess

Pretty sure they made the HPV's from the 70's thru the 80's, check every year's brochures for different pictures and angle of your boat.
Most boats that old will have some .. or a lot .. of rot in stringers, floor & transom.
You could drill some small holes near bottom of transom and check wood shavings for wet rotted shavings.
One of our members just did a HPV and might have some insight into boats construction.

Thanks for the information and the welcome! Yeah transom is pooched so right now it?s mainly figuring out how to remove the two consoles to get to the floor
I?ll admit that this is my first glass rebuild so I?m erring more on the conservative side and documenting everything rather than just ripping and tearing
I?ll admit this is my first glastron. Such a nice looking boat. I?ve had grews and starcrafts but never a glastron.
Does anyone know if glastron sells nos parts for these things?

Sweet looking boat, already in pretty nice looking condition.
I can tell you that I learned a LOT about fiber glassing on our little project.

I ended up using coosa board instead of marine grade plywood due to lower weight and no rot but it is more expensive.

Remove the rubber insert from rub rail, remove screw from aluminum rub rail, remove screws from deck to hull joint.
Inspect inner deck to hull joint for tabs of fiberglass holding two together, stern will be tabbed around splash well and transom.
I used a " Variable Speed Oscillating Multi-Tool" to do most of the fiberglass cutting.
The "Metal Multi-Tool Blade" lasted longer then other blades.
The consoles are attached to deck and should come off with deck.
You will have to remove deck to get to transom and replace.
Some have cut out fiberglass splash well or outer skin of transom to do repair, but most agree that deck removal is best in long run.

Once the top is removed is there a risk of the hull spreading apart when the floor is removed? Wondering if I need to install cross supports below the deck to maintain the distance between the hull edges?
Also. I think the coosa may be the way to go. The guy on boatworks today on YouTube used a lot of coosa on a whaler rebuild and it seems to work out

One of our members made some .. four of them, if I remember right .. out of PVC tubing.
That way he could slide them forward or backwards a little .. or remove them to get at certain spots, then replace when done with work.

Keep reading and watching video's on rebuilds .. The more knowledge you have on materials and options the better chance you'll have at making decisions on what will work best for your rebuild.
AND keep asking questions !
Most fiberglass boats are built (about) the same, no matter which brand.
They were also put together as fast as possible, so a little extra care in rebuild go's a long way.

I think it goes behind the bench seat as there is a ledge on one side that leads me to think it?s supposed to cover something
