Title: Boat covers from CoverQuest?
Post by: Villager19 on July 25, 2020, 08:49:41 AM
I'm looking for a new cover for my CVX-18. The prices I am getting from local shops are just through the roof, and of course, they want the boat for a week (or longer) during the boating season.

This old post of vendors - from 2009 - is in the Vender and Repair Resources forum: http://forum.cgoamn.com/index.php?topic=221.0 (http://forum.cgoamn.com/index.php?topic=221.0)

I came across CoverQuest in the "Canvas" section of the post. They seem to have patterns ready to go! check it out: https://www.coverquest.com/boat-cover-glastron-cvz-18-i-o-1978-1981-flex-fit-carver-5-3-oz-poly-flex-ii-78004 (https://www.coverquest.com/boat-cover-glastron-cvz-18-i-o-1978-1981-flex-fit-carver-5-3-oz-poly-flex-ii-78004)

Would the template for the CVZ 18 I/O work for my CVX 18? I'm guessing it would.

Also, has anybody used CoverQuest? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Some food for thought.  I have a cvz and bought a Carver cover that I've always been happy with.  I would imagine the covers might be somewhat interchangeable with the exception of the cvz windshields possibly being taller with a split between them.  I need to make some bows to keep the cover tight, might be something to consider also.

Thanks, Plugcheck!

I just found this in a search for Carver boat covers: https://www.boatcoversdirect.com/products/boat_covers/GLASTRON_195/CVZ_18_I-O_6390/ (https://www.boatcoversdirect.com/products/boat_covers/GLASTRON_195/CVZ_18_I-O_6390/)

Is that what you bought?

And are there any recommendations on a fabric?

Our boat is stored in a barn, so it is out of the sun. The barn is VERY dry. Sometimes we are coming back late at night and putting it away wet, as they say, so I want to make sure the fabric is breathable.

We do trailer the boat, typically about an hour to the water from where we are, but sometimes as far as 6 hour trips.

It looks like they only go back to 1983.

Great resource for many of our Glastron/Carlson boats, but don't see anything listed in CoverQuest, Westland, Carver... for a CV-16 Outboard.

Does anyone know of a company that will make a fitted cover for the CV-16 Outboard?

Thanks.
